    Yes, I like them.

I wonder if Elvis liked them, or if just had to keep up with the fashion

He had to dye them, so I guess there must have been an element of liking, otherwise you just wouldn't go to all that trouble?

On the other hand Elvis had already established this look and kept it because it was a sort of trade mark, as with the glasses he wore. The book "Elvis by the Presley's" has a picture of Elvis' reading glasses on the front, I guess he didn't wear the aviator style glasses at home all the time?

The comment "The Image is One Thing The Human Being Is Another" springs to mind

Yes, I was thinking of your comment too, re the image.

I vote that they were fashionable only, lol. Probably wrong, but boy, they did look very nice

not in the 70's it didnt look good...well maybe 70/71 - but he grew his hair longer and he should have gotten rid of the sideburns - but - they were his trademark and that is probably why he kept them.....he was a very handsome dude!

I preferred the way he had his sideburns in '69 thru 71. I didn't mind his hair longer except I felt it was too bushy at the Madison conference. The sideburns seemed to have gotten too long from there on. The only way I really disliked his hair was that short time it looked like he had bangs - that didn't suit him at all.

I think he was proud of them. It was something he made popular in 50's and had to probably be a part of again. Jerry was quoted as saying, "he hated the short hair and no sideburns look he had for his movies". Although I read somewhere else that in 1958 he was looking forward to getting that buzz cut in the ARMY. I think he just like to experiment with his looks. Look at how many times the shape and size of sideburns changed in the 70's.

69-71 His sideburns and hair were perfect. Thin high cheekbones with the sideburns- very strong and masculine look.

Oh my....another thread about Elvis' looks, and ya'll know that it makes me say things that I shouldn't say....

Sideburns....well, I don't have a problem with them. Don't really have an opinion either way. I gotta admit, when I look at Elvis, it ain't his sideburns I'm focusing on!

Daddy, I miss you more every day. You will always be my hero..

LOL, I agree, they were sexy as all get out, weren't they? I actually liked Elvis' hair and sideburns better in 1970 than in 1977. I liked them when you could still see a little bit of ear, but I would take him either way!!!
