Thanks for your reply Rover, Type J D Sumner into youtube to see more brill songs.
ELVIS sure knew what he was doing when he set up his backing groups. x x x
Indeed those had to be some of Elvis' treasured memories w/ JD. Can you just imagine them at Graceland singing the gospel songs which meant so much to Elvis.
that was AMAZING! Who did he dedicate that song to? It bleeped it out.....how amazing that was indeed.....thank you for sharing this.
the song was dedicated to elvis and the ring that you see jd wear is the ring that elvis gave him all those yrs ago
I've seen this video before and I think it's one of the most touching ones of all.
Thank you Elvis611 for posting it again...worth seeing countless times.

The song wasn't dedicated to Elvis at all...I've seen this video and J.D. dedicated the song to his brother, Buddy, I believe. There's no mention of Elvis at all during the introduction of the song because Bill Gaither is quick to acknowledge Elvis's impact on Gospel music. This video was strictly a tribute to J.D. Sumner and the Stamps, period. I used to have this complete video but lost it a long time ago. Someone just took this video and added the Elvis pictures to it....that's probably where everyone is under the impression that the song is/was dedicated to Elvis.

Tony is right, I just checked out the video J.D. did dedicate to Elvis and it's called Elvis Has Left the Building and he sings Precious Memories as a tribute to him.
I think it's still posted on the site with the clips.

I bought that single years ago. There is also a 1978 double album called:
"JD Sumner and the Stamps present Memories of our friend Elvis"
Its a live recording of the Stamps and JD doing a lot of Elvis songs and also in between songs JD tells several Elvis stories. I doubt its on CD- but it was a nice tribute album.
It does sound great KPM. I might keep an eye open for it on eBay or Amazon.

God Diane, that has to be the saddest thing I've ever heard and the pics that come with it...the ones with Jesus hugging Elvis, and Elvis heading up the stairs to heaven....oh my word.....chill bumps for sure.
