Indeed,it's true,but i don't know if it's a good idea.
I personnally think it's a bad idea....

I hate remakes...I would be horrified if they did a remake of one of Elvis movies.
Zac Efron...if I'm not mistaken, it was the kid in High School Musical? This is definitly a bad idea.
Very cute kid, not even close to Elvis, a remake of one of Elvis' movies is a terrible idea.

ELVIS movies are ELVIS movies..and should be left alone...how could anyone watch another "actor" playing Elvises roll.and how could anyone else even come close to pulling it off...LEAVE ELVISES MOVIES ALONE is what i say...I certainly wont be watching it.....

Wasn't Blue Hawaii made just for Elvis? It stinks that they're trying to remake it. Why mess with it?
I really really really wish they would just leave his movies alone...they are great just the way there were made.![]()

Willie Nelson doing "Blue Hawaii" I can live with, the same way Bing Crosby did it for Elvis - but I'm just talking about the song here.
I think it's a bad idea to re-do this movie with another person. They won't cease comparing that person to Elvis. It would be a better idea just to come up with another summery movie.
all the goons I left behind,
memories still linger..
they'll probably update the movie to be present day though.....and change it around somewhat......still a bad idea.
I dont know why they mess around with the origanal film, leave it alone.

Supposedly it's in the works. BUT whether it actually gets MADE, that's another matter. We shall see.
What's the problem? Why not remake it? This could help introduce the original, and therefore Elvis, to a younger generation, and there's nothing wrong with that.
And for those of you who don't like remakes: The Ten Commandments and The Wizard of Oz both fall into that category. And both are superlative films.
As strange as it sounds, Elvis' films are not "his" property, but they and their stories belong to the studios who are free to do with them what they will. Why should Elvis' films be free from a remake unlike other films?
I say, let them do it, and let the new film stand alone without comparisons to the original; and let the kids enjoy it too.
Getlo - cute'n'cuddly
I don't think it's quite the same without Elvis. "The Ten Commandments" and "The Wizard Of Oz" are older stories being re-told - one is really old and the other more recent. Neither is it strange to perform operette/opera's more often, the same way "die Lustige Witwe" was among Hitler's favorites, but has been performed recently as well.
I think "Blue Hawaii" wasn't so much a timeless story being re-told over and over again, but a nice feel-good movie being carried by Elvis' vocals and songs. If you take that away, I doubt much will be left behind, but we'll see. It's not that I'd have it forbidden.

Don't get too excited. I was just trying to point out that some operette has been performed for over 60 or 70 years (even more, if memory serves me correctly). I just happen to know it was popular in the 30's and there were some fine musicians working on it.

Nope, when you remake a movie, you don't drag people to the older version of it, on the contrary...
Remakes are designed for a younger audience, if some of them feels like watching the old movie, they will see a different feeling in it, different from what they expected, without the actors and actress they could identify to.
Any of you have seen the Dawn of the Dead remake? A friend of mine loved it, and then he couldn't stand the older version, because of the crappy gore effects![]()
Same thing happened to me when I wanted to see the original movie that inspired Twelve Monkeys...I couldn't find Gilliam's style
Well, this would be the same thing here, just replace the "crappy gore effects" or Gilliam's camera effects with Elvis' style...
BTW, they are too many remakes projects, the public might get tired of them...
