Has anyone noticed that lots of people are choosing songs from thier fav. artists instead of sticking to trad. hyms.for thier funeral. This got me thinking what songs i would pick when the time comes. At the moment it would be Ill never know followed by if i can dream, then to send them out rocking blue moon of kentucky.Remember if you dont sort this out before you go somebody might pick a song by cliff etc. to send you on your way.something to think about

I've told my wife to play My Way and Bridge Over Troubled Water followed by an announcement by the vicar when I'm being carried out of the church "Ladies & Gentlemen, Andrew Has left the building" !!![]()

"When You Let Your Head get Too Big, It'll Break your Neck" Elvis Presley.
I've told my family that I want 'A Little less Conversation' played as they are wheeling in my coffin. I was always one to make an entrance.
On a more serious note I would like 'Farther Along' played at some time, and probably 'You'll Never Walk Alone'....
Carolyn
"Walk A Block In My Socks"
I'd choose Elvis' 1974 Grammy award winning version of 'How Great Thou Art' from the Memphis show - it has to include the reprise as well!![]()
"Knock...and the door shall be opened. Seek...and you shall find."
A few years ago I had my own CD shop. During that time I was the supplier of music for the local cemetary. The person in charge of music told me that Elvis was requested very frequently to be played during the ceremony.
When I'm dead, I'd like songs like 'In The Garden', 'Stand By Me', 'Amazing Grace' and 'Danny Boy'. I haven't decided exactly yet, but I think I'll have plenty years to decide![]()

An American Trilogy, that's the one for me. And it was used on diffrent ocassions already by family.
my best friend has left explicit instructions with me that we've to put her ashes into a rocket and explode it over glasgow to Barber's Adagio for Strings!......I just hope I go before her!!!!!.....at my funeral I want Bridge Over Troubled Water and You'll Never Walk Alone played- that should get them all reaching for their hankeys

Hmmm, hope it's still a long ways off, but of Elvis I'd like "Farther Along" and "My Way" to be played and probably "Amazing Grace" as well.
And I've always liked "The Rose" by Bette Midler..... :worthy:
An American Trilogy for sure
"The Last Farewell" has the perfect title, otherwise the lyrics don't really fit.
"I'm Gonna Walk Dem Golden Stairs" woulf fit, but maybe it's too much uptempo for a funeral.
So I would also go for "How Great Thou Art", "His Hand In Mine", "Stand By Me" or maybe "Reach Out To Jesus".
Hmm,, "Milky White Way" would be nice. It's not too sad.
If you don't have nothing left to say,
let me hold you one more time for ol' times sake
"its over"and "How great thou art"

Elvis grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference![]()
At my moms funeral last May 2004 'Mama liked the roses' was played. That was a very emotional moment

I have to say that it would and will be "Memories" the words for me say it all, I want this song at the end of my last farewell but would like "Welcome to my World" when everyone arrives at the chapel. My song I want my children to remember me with is "I 'll remember you"
I'll remember you
Long after this endless summer has gone
I'll be lonely oh so lonely
Living only to remember you
I'll remember too
Your voice as soft as the warm summer breeze
Your sweet laughter, mornings after
Ever after, I'll remember you
To your arms someday I'll return to stay
Till then I will remember too
Every bright start we made wishes upon
Love me always, promise always
Oooh, you'll remember too
I'll remember you
Yesterday was the past and tomorrow is the future but today is the present ..thats why we call it the gift"

"Never listen to a liar it takes too long to find out the truth and my time is too precious"

"Without you I am only half of me"

I have a CD already made (just in case)...The songs are :
I'll remember you (Elvis)
I'm leavin' (Elvis)
Mine (sung by me to my girl) if she outlives me..It's our song!
I think any Elvis fan whether religious or NOT should have Elvis played as they make their final journey!
A King
A Man Is Never Dead, Until He Is Forgotten.... (h)
here's my list, not everything is ElvisSorry
You'll never walk alone
I'll remember you
His hand in mine
One (U2)
Ah, finally, a really cheerful topic!![]()
At the funeral of my grandmother we had "Stand By Me" , which is a beautiful and sweet song...
So I guess I would go for that one too.
And after that just tear the place up with "Promised Land" (the title seems suitable enough!)
Sonny
There are a few that spring to mind....most have already been mentioned........
I would add...Until its time for you to go and For Ol' Times Sake

ALL HAIL ELVIS PRESLEY!!![]()
apparently -- i was born in the WRONG era!
I have 3 songs that must be played, if the day comes..
1: For ol' time sake
2: Sweet, sweet spirit ( i just love this song so much)
3: A portrait of my love (sung by Rene froger, this is in my opnion one of the best songs ever written)
For those who don't now this song, here are the lyrics:
There could never be
a portrait of my love
For nobody could paint a dream
You will never see
a portrait of my love
for miracles are never seen
Anyone who sees her
soon forgets the Mona Lisa
It would take I know a Michael Angelo
and he would need the glow of dawn
that paints the sky above
to try and paint a portrait of my love
It would take I know a Michael Angelo
and he would need the glow of dawn
that paints the sky above
to try and paint a portrait of my love
to try and paint a portrait of my love
a portrait
