Army years question - Elvis' collar pins

Hey everyone,

I just had a quick question about Elvis' army years collar pins -- what exactly were they? One was a US, the other... I've seen two that it could be -- I'm assuming it's the armored pin (two crossed cannons), however by look, it's also really similar to the infantry ones (two crossed rifles).

Also, has anyone figured out what the little tags on his medals say? I can see the ones that say CARBINE and EXPERT, but there are three on the other pin that I can't read, though I do know one must be PISTOL, since he got his marksman's award for that.

Any help would be appreciated!

I never knew there existed another mugshot of Elvis!! How come this was taken, and do all recruits have to have their 'mugshots' taken?

That was taken for the army...not a "real" mugshot in the sense that he was arrested.
Also "fake" mugshots were taken of him as a joke, in the early 70's...I will have to re-read the acct. of that as I don't remember the whole story.
