You know, I'm not making excuses, but as I am a bit older, and have lived in the years of the older generations, (although wasn't their age, hehe,) I understand a bit of how things were thought of then, what was not right, but how the thinking was.
Double standard, especially in that industry, was the norm (again, not right, and yes, I wouldn't have chosen it, because money and a man, means nothing to me, just the man). You see, Cilla knew the deal, she knew the package, she made her choices, honey.
Yes, for the men, and I know from men who are honest with me, double standard was (is) somewhat accepted, as I said, in that industry, and in some people's lives. A man, if a beautiful woman throws herself at him, he will be tempted, or go for it.
It is up to the woman to make her choices. That is why we are raised as we are, the men, as they are. Even now, you know, I wonder about my son, in the horse industry, so many pretty girls, gorgeous girls, and few boys. I have mentioned this to the men around me, (although my son is still too young, although he turned thirteen today) the men say "yeah, good on him!". (With a secretative grin).
In my opinion, a lot does stem back to the woman's upbringing. (Who are human, too ) but we are supposed to be stronger! lol (if you get my drift).
Just my opinion, my experience of people around me, my lovely friend. Hope you don't mind.
In essence, Cilla knew the deal, made her choices, planned it.
