Elvis in West Palm Beach on 2-13-77?

I know some of you here are great with details so I was wondering.. can you tell me why Elvis was in the parking lot of the Sheraton Hotel in West Palm Beach on February 13, 1977? Did he stay there for a few days before leaving for Orlando's concert on the 15th?

I checked in the book, "Elvis Day By Day", and it had nothing about this visit. So, I'm clueless...

Daddy, I miss you more every day. You will always be my hero..

Elvis held a concert in West Palm Beach, FL at the Auditorium at 8:30 p.m. on February 13, 1977.

Here is the following information I found which was taken from the awesome "Elvis In Concert" website:

Date: 13 Feb 1977 Time: 8.30pm Venue: West Palm Beach, FL. Auditorium Tickets: 7,000 Costume: Rainfall Suit Track list: Also Sprach Zarathustra
    See See Rider
    I Got A Woman/Amen
    Love Me
    Little Sister
    You Gave Me A Mountain
    Blue Suede Shoes
O Sole Mio/It's Now Or Never
    My Way
    All Shook Up
    Teddy Bear/Don't Be Cruel
    And I Love You So
    Fever
    [band introductions]
    Early Morning Rain
    What'd I Say
    Johnny B. Goode
    Blueberry Hill
    Love Letters
    Hurt
    Hound Dog
    Danny Boy
Walk With Me [by Sherril Nielsen]
    Jailhouse Rock
    Can't Help Falling In Love

Recordings: Elvis - Coming On Strong (from and including Little Sister onwards, but missing Early Mornin' Rain, Love letters and Danny Boy. CD contains several tracks from 16 Feb 77).
Photos: 0 Comments: Elvis spent much of this show surrounded by bodyguards on stage.

Why was Elvis surrounded by bodyguards onstage for much of the show???

If I'm not mistaken the above info comes from the "Elvis Presley In Concert" website. It's a great site but not as "complete" date-wise as the "Elvis In Concert" site

You're absolutely right Tony ~ I'll refer to the one you suggest from now on

Sadly, the auditorium no longer exists. It was sold to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah's Witnesses) in 1998.

    Vissie...

You might want to buy the "Elvis Day By Day" book by Peter Guralnick and Ernst Jorgensen. It seems to be pretty acurate, and it has a LOT of info like this in it...

Daddy, I miss you more every day. You will always be my hero..

You are very welcome Vissie... Ebay is usually a good place to find books...if you are interested in searching there, you may find quite a few.

I've been looking at some of the books that are out on the market and I'm anxious to begin collecting some of them. It's fascinating reading about him

this was a very bad show , it seemed that ELVIS was very ill, he was breathing heavy and tired throuhgh out the show, he was going to do i can't stop loving you, and aborted it . i saw and filmed this performance a little girl was given a scarf and 2 women snatched it from her , E.P. was unaware until 2 songs later when charlie brought it to his attention , needless to say the girl was given a pile of yellow scarves. The photo of the parkinkglot candid was taken by ron gallela.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! Elvis, poor guy, does look winded and bloated in the parking lot photo.

I'm still very surprised he performed at this venue in WPB. He was still very popular and I would think a 5,000 seat auditorium would be small for him?

women snatching scarves from little girls! the nerve! I'm glad Elvis made things right. In the photo above of him in the parking lot, he does look bad....bloated actually. Poor man....maybe even then if he would have sought medical help, do you think it would have helped save his life?
