Love it! I want to see changes made.
Leave it! I like it just the way it is.
The kid never said he/she was for the rumored changes, just that it needs to be upgraded, of which I agree, just not to the gaudy extent you are wishing for. The point is (of which you missed again) that this 17 year old is an Elvis fan without the changes that are rumored.
I am not opposed to anything which draws anyone to Elvis. Remixes, duet albums, whiz bang attractions they are only used to get the attention of people who do not normally give Elvis the time of day. Get their attention and let his talent do the rest.
PS-Who knows, that 17 year old might have heard ALLC or saw If I Can Dream on American Idol and decided to check out Elvis a little more.IMO![]()

Since there has been so much talk about the new expansion plans at Graceland, me and my girl were discussing my blog last and about those changes. She really likes it and finds it all interesting. She was saying how from all of the things she has heard lately from me, and the media about the plans for Graceland that she wants to go there BUT after they make the changes in the next couple of years. She told me back in January of this year that she wanted to go see Graceland this year and we had talked of going during EP Week for the 30th. But after the talks began about the plans for a "New Graceland" within the next 3 years, I convinced her to wait. There would be much more to see and do and enjoy more of after the changes. So she agreed and we're going to wait. I told her we would just be waisting our money if we went now or before any of the changes have been made. As it is right now nothing there can compare with what it will look like in the next 2-3 years. She agreed and we have decided that once the changes are done, then we will go to Graceland and take in the "Ultimate Elvis Experience"!
My point is that for someone like us, it's best to wait and save our money for the new expansions to be finished before visiting. For the older fans I can understand not wanting to wait. But for the younger ones, I personally think it's best to wait. Graceland will still be the same then as it is today. The only thing that will be new and changed is the area around it. It will be a new experience for all like never before with new attractions filled with fun, enjoyment and a learning experience for the whole family. Anna is 23 and is the type where "more to do and see equals bigger and better and more fun" just as I am. That's what makes u compatible.
Also I expect the changes to all be complete by the next big anniversary celebration in 2012. I expect the new visitors center and museum to be opened by the summer of 2009 and the groundbreaking on the new convention hotel by 2009 and opened by 2011. I figure they will start groundbreaking and construction on the new VC sometime early next year if not within the next few months now that everything is a go. The who VC complex will probably take anywhere from 16-20 months to complete. Bob Sillerman wants this to happen ASAP so that the quicker they get things done the quicker they bring in a profit, up tourism, and launch EP into a newer generation and can do the things they want and plan to do. Besides that's what it's all about. To keep EP relevant and a hot commodity, and preserved for generations to come.![]()

I THINK THEY MUST LET THE GRACELAND LIKE IF ELVIS STILL LIVE IN IT
COZ THE PEOPLE CAME FEEL EVERYTHING IN THE HOUSE AND LOVE IT
SO THEY DON'T NEED TO SEE THE CHANGE ...
I HOPE THEY LET IT OR CHANGE IT TO BE NEW BUT NOT MUCH
BY THE WAY ELVIS DIDN'T DIE HE JUST BACK HOME .
Let me set the record straight. For those who call these plans "rumors" or "supposed proposals", that is incorrect. What the media has stated about the plans is indeed about to happen. Too much has already happened and been invested financially for this to fall through and not become a reality such as the Governor of Tennessee passing a new law to allow the Graceland area to become registered as a Tourist Destination Zone. And the only way the Governor would do that is if the project called for at least $200 million in funding (this was stated in the Commercial Appeal back early this year). This project is expected to cost anywhere from $250 to possibly $300 million so it qualifies for the TDZ. Another reason why this project is going to happen for certain is the fact that Bob Sillerman and EPE have purchased over 65 acres of land at a cost of over $13 million just in the past 2 years alone. No one makes an investment in that type of purchasing without a sure master plan in place to profit off of it.
So my point being is that like it or not this expansion project is going to happen and will most likely begin within the next few months or as early as early 2008. No one said any of you have to like it. But you need to face the facts and reality that it's a done deal and about to happen. Besides I wouldn't have created a blog based on this exciting new ElvisWorld if it was just a rumor.

See all it take s is one misinterpretation by a poster and it turns into a snowball. My point of saving money and not waisting it now is more to do with why go and spend the money NOW when we can save it up and have more to spend when the changes have been made? I wasn't talking of others wasting their money over the past 25 years. I was talking about us. Besides the plans weren't even known to exist until recently. So I feel it would be wise on our part to go when they make the changes and she agreed.

Getlo that is all inaccurate and complete nonsense. The plans are to BUILD EP and his legacy up bigger than it's been before. Not to tear him down and destroy his legacy. Besides the Memphis Mafia have already done the best job possible at destroying him already but the fans still support them.![]()

Getlo - cute'n'cuddly
I don't think I misinterpreted your previous post also you are repeating it once again. In my words: You are not going to visit Graceland because of Elvis the man, or because Graceland was his home, or because his grave is there, but rather you want to experience some new "wow" attractions. Then why has it to be Graceland where you want to see all these changes happen?![]()
