    " I will always love you "

(may of been said before) On a Dolly Parton biography prorgramme there was a bit where Elvis was mentioned. The colonel rang Dolly Parton and enquired about having Elvis covering her song ' I Will Always Love You ' but she said she didn't want to give 50% of the rights up having had a country chart #1. She said that E prob wasn't aware and was just a general enquiry and she was devestated that she had to turn it down. I'm not sure when this was but I'm guessing around mid-late 70s I'm sure Elvis would of done a great version!

I was lucky enough to see Dolly Parton in concert in Cardiff earlier this year. She mentioned "I Will Always Love You" and said that she wrote it with Elvis in mind, but when Col Parker wanted the rights she withdrew the offer and had a hit with it herself. She also stated that she was sure that Elvis had no idea she had offered the song for him.

I'm sure he would have made a beautiful job of it, such a shame it never happened.

Dolly's concert was awesome and she mentioned Elvis several times, and appeared to be a real fan of his. Imagine if they had met, what a photo that would be!

Elvis probably would have done a good job, but Felton would've ruined it with his overbearing strings etc.

Dolly's version is subtle and lovely, and Elvis could have made a nice job of it.

Whitney Houston's version, however, is one of the worst songs in history and should be banned worldwide (along with the chicken dance, the Beach Boys' Kokomo and that bloody froggy ring-tone "song"!!)

I've loved this song since I saw "The BodyGuard" (love Kevin costner, too). I can only dream about Elvis singing it. What misfortune for us. I imagine him singing it with all out powerhouse like he does "Hurt"

Whitney does a wonderful job of the song, I remember watching the video over and over and over, when it first came out.

I would have loved for Elvis to have sung this song, I must admit.
