Thread: Having fun being Elvis.

Thanks for sharing that story Steve, I hadn't heard that one. It's great to see that Elvis still had that wonderful sense of humor to the end.

Carole, I read that one before with Linda turning the joke on Elvis, she was really good for him. Thanks for posting so others could read.

Hello Pacer, a pretty amusing story that relates the inherent sense of humor of Elvis and his being so candid. Thanks for posting

Sure sounds like something Elvis would do and then Linda; but I've never heard these two stories, so can you please provide sources for this, so I can read it for myself, just to verify - if I would happen to have the book/books these stories are in

....Steve and Carole thank you both for sharing these lovely stories with us.....have never heard these two before....they sure made me smile but am feeling sorry for those fans that were so close to Elvis but then thought they only met Charlie ...altho it's quite surprising that they didn't recognize him, cos Charlie was a lot shorter than Elvis ....and if you got some more stories like these two please post them....would love to hear them =)....thanks again for making my day

    Yes, thanks to you guys.
I'd heard the one about Elvis and Linda ,but not the one with the officers.
    Sounds like something he'd do.

Great stories, thanks for sharing them!
I remember reading something about a plane...Elvis wanted to stop a plane, so he rushed to an airport but stopped the wrong plane, or something like that Anybody knows how much truth is in this?

Wonderful stories indeed but I'm sure that Elvis didn't always enjoy being Elvis. He wanted to have some privacy in some occassions and he just couldn't because he was who he was. But when he was in a good mood I'm sure he had a lot of fun just being Elvis. Especially when he was with Linda...

Now that one is true. James Caughley jr. (or "Hamburger James" as he was called) had stolen two or three polaroid pictures of Priscilla and another girl in some compromising situations and sure enough James had gone to an airport, and had at least one of those pictures with him. Elvis found out in time and he and the guys left for the airport in a hurry, and Elvis went onto the tarmac, flashed his badge that Nixon had given him, the steps were pushed back up to it, Elvis stormed the cockpit and told them they had to surrender the suspect to him - and Elvis dragged Hamburger James out of that plane by the back of his neck.

He was dragged towards the car, and Elvis read him his right - but unfortunately couldn't remember all of the words, of the so-called "Miranda", so he just said "And you have the right to all the rest of that shit. Get the **** in the car."

They went back to the hotel they were staying at, and James was literally slapped around, and a couple of the guys had their guns drawn. First James said that his father, who was a cop, would hunt Elvis down and kill him, then he pleaded for mercy.

Elvis told him to go back to Memphis and said that he wouldn't be bothered anymore, as long as Hamburger James would keep his mouth shut. Elvis felt bad about it later.

Marty Lacker doesn't know what happened to him after that, except that he heard that he was pumping gas for a while.
