I heard it here on one of the posts that he didn't like the song "LIfe" because it was too long. I love that song myself.

Listening to "That's Thee Way It Is SE" Elvis says that he doesn't particularly like the song and didn't "Dig" singing "Twenty Days and Twenty Nights" that being the case why did he record the song?
I had thought that during this period Elvis would choose the material he wanted to record! I realise that it was on the TTWII album and that he would have to sing it for it to be included in the film to be plugged to sell the album.... perhaps he was jokingI Like the song

Are there other songs that you have heard that Elvis didn't like apart from the obvious movies songs e.g. "Old MacDonald"?

Hiya. Yeah I have the cd of TTWII And he says..
(At The Begining Of 20 Days And 20 Nights)
"Oh Lord Have Mercy, I have a new song coming out soon on an album (album)...it's that gatarade man, get's ya everytime, it's not a very good song and i don't particulary dig singing it But a...it's on the programme.."
If you want this just ask for my e-mail and i can send it to you. I love the song and i think he sings it beautifully !!![]()
I hope so too Marija !!! I love that song...always makes me smile =)![]()
Not sure if this is the same instance but in the original TTWII he says,
"BJ Thomas, has out a new record-I don't particularly like it-but its his own thing" and he then sings "I Just Can't Help Believing" which was a minor hit for BJ Thomas in 70. IMO he may have been joking. He must liked it somewhat to record it -unless it was a favor to a friend who was pushing the song. I like both "Twenty days..." and " I Just Cant Help Believing" and have always thought they were good solid songs which showcased Elvis's voice and versatility.
EP was joking when he said that about BJ and 20 Days. It was part of his sense of humor as a performer. EP was a better comedian than most professional comedians.
If you listen to him talking, you can tell he was joking. He sings it too well to be a song he didn't like. I understand that when it came to music he didn't perform anything he didn't care for.
well the song twenty days and twenty nights is great one of the songs elvis did a great job of its like suspicious minds i like the song it just drags on a bit anyway i think elvis was joking when he said he didnt like it as he looked to be having a good time recording it
well i tend to agree with Elvis's comments - it's not top drawer material

During the '69 Vegas season, he often made coments about "Memories" not being a very goods song, but that it came with all.
During "Suspicious minds" SEP 3 1973 he sings " You know how I hate this Da** song......I really do", I don`t think he really meant it, but he might have been tired of singing it by then....anyway he did sing it more than 100 times after that statement.
Sometimes I think we have to consider his state of mind....and under wich cirrcumstances he said things, also Elvis kind of humour made him say strange/funny things at times![]()
Elvisia
Afcource he was joking about 20 days and Supsicious minds.
He did it regular in concert!
I'd like to go to Graceland
Memphis,Tennessee
EP, was a comedian and this was his way of joking.Of course he liked both songs and would not sing them if he did'nt .He sang both better than there original artists.
Yes he was joking, but he was also trying to cove the fact that the band didn't know the song all that well. "See we even started it off wrong". The ending for the song for whatever reason wasn't all that good. It actually worked out the best that it ever had the night they performed it. I watch him perform that song over and over and think the vocals that he laid down that night was his most convincing even over the album cut.
