I heard he re-recorded the song in 1970 because he wasnt happy with his 1966 version...I dont know how true that is..
Does anyone know why "Love Letters" was re-recorded on TTWII?
Just curious![]()

Thanks for the answer. I like the 1970 version, his voice is much lower.
I have another question: In the '68 Comeback Special we only see Elvis sing,
but where's the band? Was Elvis singing along with a tape or something?
I assume you mean the stand up shows Outlaw??
If so there is indeed a band presesnt..the NBC orchestra to be exact....though the final song If I Can Dream sang by Elvis in black leather and not the original (white suit) ending is a backing tape..including Elvis' vocals. Hope this helps...![]()
Thanks again pacer 1966. The NBC orchestra wasn't shown, or did I miss it?
I'll be back when I have more questions![]()
I was an on&off Elvis fan, but since March this year I began the be a (real) fan. I never really liked the gospel songs and the more bombastic songs, but now I simply love them and hear a lot of songs for the first time.
Your welcome Outlaw..Im pleased I can be of help..just fire away with the questions..there are plenty of great people here more than willing to help with the answers
As for seeing the orchestra well you hardly see them at all in the original broadcast.. but if you have the DVD box set which has the complete stand up shows on, you may be able to get a better glimpse of them somewhere.
where can i find those two versions?
I'd like to go to Graceland
Memphis,Tennessee
i think the 66 version was also relased as a single
Your'e correct hounddog it was released in the US in June 1966 and reached a high of No 19 on the charts. With sales of around 4000,000.
