No question, Ronnie Tutt.![]()
Diane
This subject has been talked about, but a long time ago.........so just wanted to bring it up again as we have lots of new members![]()
Some of you might not be aware but Elvis used Bob Lanning on drums in the early part of the 1970 when Ronnie was unavailable.
So the simple question is who's style do you prefer?
It might be a little more difficult that you expect to answer when you listen to some of the tracks that Bob was on! One of my favourite versions of "I Got A Woman" has Bob on the drums!
The perfect way to show the difference is to play the two small attachments below which are both covering the same song "Proud Mary" the 1970 snippet is Bob Lanning the second clip from 1972 is Ronnie Tutt.
For me Bob seems to take the minimalistic approach and keeps it clear and crisp where as Ronnie gives it the fuller sound. The best way I can describe it I suppose is that Bob sounds mono and Ron sounds stereo![]()
Anyway, what do you think?
Probably Tutt because we're so used to him.
But how many of us knew that the On Stage album was a combination of Tutt / Lanning until years later, when recording dates etc were revealed?
None of us, that's who. We didn't know the difference.
To my ear, there is no huge difference between the two.
(And I thought Larry Londin was very different and fitted in well, but Shane Keister ... not so much).
I voted Ronnie, but Larry Londin is good drummer tooI like his style in march'76 -concerts
Ronnie Tutt, no doubt.
A friend of mine {across the pond]has left to spend the next two weeks with the TCB band. I'm thrilled for him....he promises updates & pictures .
Ronnie is the best, he plays with that tempo, and it is more Rock![]()
The version of Proud Mary from 72- Is the best, but i also like Bob`s playing,![]()
Taking Care of BusinessTil we meet you again, may God bless you, Adios.
Ronnie Tutt Dovey![]()
Tutt is the man for me. He seemed to follow Elvis's every move like he was joined at the hip-PUN intended!![]()
ronnie tutt always kept a great beat and kept the band tight
Ronnie all the way for me....but I do like Animals style![]()

"Don't tamper with the property of the U.S. Male"
To me its Ronnie Tutt. I think I read something that could hit the drums 100x faster than anyone in history. Not sure how they do that but.
Love to all,
Tim Dudley
Ronnie Tutt rules - remember our opinion is second to the man. Elvis chose Ronnie. no offense to anyone else but they where only fillins for the best drummer that ever lived!
