Most of us haven't heard for anyone except Ronnie.
But I really think That Ronnie is An Expert with drums.
I think Ronnie Tutt beats everybody. His flowing, loose but amazingly energetic style fitted the best for Elvis onstage. Just listen to his thunderous intros to See See Rider. It's like a Harley is about to start off or a rocket to launch, it really started the show. This particular intro was taken straight from Gene Krupa, a helluva jazz/big band drummer, who was Ronnie's childhood hero. Ronnie showed his idea to Elvis and he loved it. That's how it began. Noone could do it so good maybe Larry Londin in '76. Larry is too hard and stiff, Ronnie is much more loose.

I'd have to disagree because by now we all know (because of the credits of the original and remastered "On Stage" CD) that Ronnie didn't play every single concert with Elvis as has been proven by the tracks on the "On Stage" album/CD.
On certain songs, I prefer Lanning over Tutt (February versions of "Walk A Mile In My Shoes", especially) because with alot of songs, Tutt seems to rush them. The February versions of WAMIMS are perfect tempo-wise, IMO.
The August, 1970 versions (to me - since I am also a musician) are very rushed musically...and it takes away from the feeling of the song.
And I prefer Larry Londin over Ronnie Tutt. Just compare the way he goes from Also Sprach Zarathustra into See See Rider with the way Ronnie did so. I'm no musician, so I can't compare the technical skills, but I prefer Larry's high energy, full power drumming in 1976 over Ronnie (in the same period). But hey, Elvis surrounded himself with topnotch musicians.

Ronnie Tutt. The man slays on the drum kit.
