To hear it is the in concert version I prever...![]()
But to watch ALOHA![]()
Aloha From Hawaii
Elvis In Concert
Which version is your favourite?
(Blackmore - Gillan - Glover - Lord - Paice)
Sweet child in time
you?ll see the line
line that?s drawn between
good and bad
see the blind man
shooting at the world
bullets flying taking toll
If you?ve been a bad
oh Lord I bet you have
and you?ve not been hit
by flying led
you?d better close your eyes
you?d better bow your head and
wait for the ricochet
- Lyrics of most beautiful song in rock music ever!!!

During 'The Aloha' Elvis was on top of the world. But during 'In Concert' Elvis was already dying. While others sing this song, Elvis really lived it. And the version of 'In Concert' shows it.....

The In Concert version...
I couldn't have said it better than Albert did.
It was a Sinatra song, but it could have been written especially for Elvis.

The In Concert version beat Hawaii by many miles, to me it sounds like the Hawaii version needs a good kick in the butt, it never take off![]()
I like both versions but i think i would have to give the 77 version the nod. More passion and feeling in that version. He made it his own...whereas i think the aloha version, although pretty good...he just sung the song...if you see what i mean![]()

I voted for In Concert, because I fealt that even in-spite of his poor health at the time, Elvis' voice was very strong, which lead him to belt out an awesome vocally strong version of the song.

Definitely 'My Way" In Concert one, except is that a little heart breaking seeing elvis sing that song as if he sang his own life.![]()

I love Aloha version. I think that In Concert version is really sung very nice but arrangement of this song is definately worse on In Concert:
- Elvis sung it differently (he didn?t sing the highest parts of song)
- guitar instead violin
(Blackmore - Gillan - Glover - Lord - Paice)

Yes, I agree, Peter. The tempo in the Aloha version is just a tad slower and more befitting of the lyrics I think. In Concert he sung from his gut and like I said before as if he knew each time he did the song it could be the last as he himself was aware it had now become his anthem and the truth of the lyrics about the "final curtain" was almost within reach. In Aloha there was less urgency in his delivery, for sure, but still I musically prefer this version, too.![]()
Love both versions but I would lean to EIC, Elvis was pouring his heart out in this song.
"In Concert" would have to get my vote, as Elvis really does a good vocal job on the song. But, "Aloha" would visually get the vote.
I always thought Elvis didn't seem quite as focused in the rehearsal for Aloha, as he misses the intro. Unfortunately, the band carry on and Elvis has to try and start in a different key!![]()
Too much monkey business for me to be involved in
for me it has to be the latter - Elvis in concert.
it is very sad but to hear that Man's voice... beautiful x
Much more emotion and feeling and power in '77
