I may be wrong, but I don't think he sang Steamroller Blues in '72. The first version was from the Aloha shows, and there is no great difference in his versions during the rest of his career.
i read recently that whne Elvis first started doing this song it was really different to the version on Aloha. Does any know what cd's those early version may be on? i think he started singing it in 1972? Any help would be great.

I found the site it says "Most fans think that Elvis has sung " Steamroller Blues " for the very first time at the Aloha Rehearsal show, this is not the case as it was done for the very first time on August 7th 1972 midnight show, this is also quite a different version when compared to the ones done in Hawaii."
Now i found the site i'll see if there is a recording of this show mentioned
Yes ur quite right hounddogElvis was performing Steamroller right through the latter part of 72' [some great versions too] ,i dont know why the sites always insist that Aloha was the first renditions
