I think for vegas these two piece outfits worked perfectly, its a more intimate audience. The jumsuits looked better on tour in arenas and needed to be overstated so people could see him. Just think he had to do 2 shows a night for almost 2 months , these are alot less heavy and alot less to make money wise for so many shows in the same place. The photo from Tommy in entry 31 is the best look for the combo 2 and 3 piece suits and vegas, its casual but still wearing a jumpsuit style belt. The belt in that pic is now offered by B&K costumes on thier new website. It is named the "Jacob Marley " belt, who that might be (relation of Bob marley ) or if the original was made by him is a question. Jack Lord made One ( maybe 2) which is the second belt you see in the thunderbird suit pics. but the belt he is wearing fits vegas and his look at the time.

I love these two piece suits, I feel like a lot of people don't even know about these because I only have just seen these photos this year. The early "jumpsuits in 69' and 70' seem perfectly functional, easy to accessorize, and very sexy. These suits are great and aside from the fact they are two pieces seem to be perfect stage outfits. I really wish he had not gone to the bedazzled jumpsuits he started wearing in 72'. In "Elvis and Me", Priscilla makes mention of the changes in his stage costumes and states that she feels he was trying to upstage himself. I never understood that statement before this year when I noticed the direct correlation between stage costumes and jewelry getting more outrageous and his dependence upon rx drugs and emotional/mental instability. Don't get me wrong Elvis always dressed in a flashy individual style, but I get the feeling around 71', 72' he lets his hair grow out more, he is hardly seen not wearing the sunglasses, he wears more jewelry, and the jumpsuits start getting out of control. When I watch EOT and he is sitting in the back of the limo with the MM after a show I just get this feeling like he is trying to hide in plain sight.
Thank you for your reply my friend josephinebeau.![]()
