    Spelling On The Stone

This does have some small part in Elvis so I guess I can put it in here.

Does anyone remember the album Spelling On The Stone?

This album brought a new area of Elvis Is Alive.
With some of the lyrics like
    "People wonder, People ask,
Am I present, Am I pass,
    I never left, I haven't gone,
Check the Spelling On The Stone."

With other lyrics like the following:
"My secret's out, So many know,
Check the Spelling On The Stone"

Well, when this LP and single was sent out no name appeared on them. DJs listen to them and was amaze by it. Here is a singer who sounds some what like Elvis singing a song about the Spelling On The Stone. So then they said it was Elvis trying to get back to his fans. Well, a man walked into a studio who wore sunglasses and had black hair who called himself Steven Silvers. He told them that it was him on the song singing. Well, when the DJ was looking at his name Elvis name appears in the last name Silvers - Silvers which only two letter needs to be switch around to make Elvis backwards. So now there was a name but when you thought it was over. Steven Silvers made his only appearance on TV. He took off the Elvis type sunglasses and there he was - Jimmy Ellis otherwise known as Orion.

Now the question is, why did he do this?
Many reasons of why he could of done this but to tell the truth it is kinda funny in a way. He made all those people thought the it was Elvis on the record look like a stupid *****. Yes, you can say it was sick of him doing it but I guess it was his way of getting back at those who thought he was Elvis when he was Orion.

I am providing the song that made Elvis Is Alive folks dumb so that you can listen. Oh, by the way. If you have listen to Jimmy "Orion" Ellis then you can tell that it is him singing.

What album did Jimmy release that on? I can't even find a mention of him recording it on his site.

I have th ewhole album that Spelling on the Stone came out on. I must say the songs aren't bad but the singing, man it don't sound like Elvis to me, it sounds like a very average impersonator.

The audio I provided is Jimmy Ellis singing and not Dan Willis please compare audio of a album by Orion or Jimmy Ellis with this song. It is the same person - Jimmy Ellis.

The song Spelling On The Stone appeared on the Cure Records. The album name is Spelling On The Stone. The cover had a solid black background. Spelling On The Stone was in a white box written in black letters. A headstone appears at the bottom. I am providing the cassette cover to Spelling On The Stone.

As you can see no name of the singer appears on the cassette cover. Also go to Ebay and type in for a search Spelling On The Stone. You will see a LP on there but again no singer name is on it.

This is Jimmy Ellis' LP of Spelling On The Stone. It was him who appeared on TV as Steven Silvers with Elvis sunglasses on and he took them off and people was amazed that they was seeing Jimmy Ellis on stage.

Hounddog - The reason why you don't find Spelling On The Stone listed on his site is because it was released by Steven Silvers and not Jimmy Ellis even though it is Jimmy singing. It was Steven Silvers only LP.

Sorry Elvis Lennon but you are totally wrong!!!!! The Spelling On The Stone recording/s have no Jimmy Ellis connection whatsoever. It was indeed recorded by Dan Willis. Jimmy Ellis has NEVER recorded this song. Hard to accept I know and I daresay you'll disagree but it's a fact.
Jimmy did indeed release a 45 single under the name Steven Silver but never used the name again before or afterwards. Don't know where you picked up the info but it's incorrect.

Jimmy Ellis did record Spelling On The Stone because he sung it live only one time in 1989. I know this how? I have that performance where he came out on stage as Steven Silvers. Next, The person who host the show was Ralph Emery. The show was Nashville Now. Ralph Emery even held up the album (The one I posted the cassette of) saying "Here is Steven Silvers to sing for you from his lastest record "Spelling On The Stone". Jimmy came out on stage as Steven Silvers and took off the Elvis type sunglasses. I also have a interview on video were Jimmy Ellis says that it was him who recorded the album on Cure Records.

    EXPLAIN IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!

Next, please explain why it sounds like Jimmy Ellis. I have found no info on Dan Willis as of yet.

Also, Why would Spelling On The Stone LP, cassette, and single be listed under the name of Steven Silvers.

Does anyone know where I can find an MP3 of Dan Willis's version of "Spelling On The Stone"??

I used to have it. From what I gather now both Dan Willis and Jimmy Ellis recorded the song and nearly the same album at about the same time. Both sounds completely different from each other.

I have the Jimmy Ellis/Steven Silver 45 the song on it is Down In Mississippi. The cover you showed is the same as my LP version. I will listen to you link but at the moment it has "The file you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable."

But from what i've read of your posts you think that this LP is Jimmy? Sorry i don't, to my ears the singers don't have the same timbre and quality of voice.

    Here's a link to Dan on E Tribute and a MP3

Yes there's not a lot available, i guess that the way they want it after all Curb records was run by Major Bill Smith and in the interviews i've seen with him he liked to create mystique.

Somebody else has recorded the song http://www.great-recordings.com/doby.htm
