It's not acapella, it's just Elvis' vocal without the music. Elvis would have had headphones on with the music playing as he sang.
Was there a 30 #1 Hits Special Edition that had vocal only tracks (acapella)? I found "In The Ghetto" and it is 1:33 of acapella.

I want to entertain people. That's my whole life. To my last breath.
Elvis Presley (1935 - 1977)
David Bendeth (who remastered E1), had about a 10 minute promtional clip if you will, where he played a few nuggets (sound-bytes actually) really showcasing Elvis' voice, thus the In The Ghetto vocal performance which was breathtaking to say the least as his timing and pitch were perfect, without the music to boot! If you ever get a chance to see that clip, it was quite fascinating.

It's a video clip of him explaining the remixing process and the differences in sound from the originals, to E1, which were huge. Glenn Hardin and James Burton were also there and they couldn't believe the difference in sound. He also played that In The Ghetto sound-byte to a bunch of college students and a comparison from the original Burning Love, to the newer version, which was mind-blowing and the students were amazed. That clip surfaces from time to time, but I haven't seen it lately nor do I know how to get the link, sorry.
