What do you think about the Elvis and Gladys book?

I?m sorry to say I didn?t like it at all, in fact I think I didn?t finish reading it.
All that psycological stuff made me yawn big time. They were very close and all that but I don?t think it is a subject to look through a lens like the author did in the book and try to give an explanation of every little detail they lived toghether.
That?s my opinion.

I enjoyed the book.

I also enjoyed the research that was done into Elvis's ancestory by Dundy.

If you haven't read it, it's worth a read. Always good to take on board a wide diaspora of information before making a decision. Especially with some of the contradictory information out there on Elvis!

I haven't read the book, but why does it seem like everyone analyzes Elvis' relationship with his mother? There were very close, but what is wrong with that?

I thought is was a good book. One I wouldn't have thought to buy & read before, but I'm glad that I did.
I didn't think Elvis & his mom had a strange relationship at all.
They were close & became closer when Vernon had to be incarcerated.

There were many crazy & wild stories put to rest in that book.
Thank goodness .
Because of my divorce, my children & I became very close ..especially in their very young years. Sometimes, I miss that closeness .
But, that's what grandkids are for......

It was indeed very much psychological stuff.

What is so strange about a son, worshipping his mother.

One thing I found about a lot of these books.......they're in your library.
If you don't want to buy & just read . It saves a lot of money.

I'm a people watcher. I like to try & figure out why people do or say things, including myself.
When I hear crazy stories about Elvis ....I try to find someone that has "no interest" or reason to lie and see what they have to say....

I'm not sure where it talked about Elvis sleep-walking. Didn't Vernon & Gladys sleep-walk too?

Did Elvis' start when his daddy went to prison ? My, it's been a long time ago. I need to get my book back.

Some neighbor talked about going to see "baby Jesse" in a little casket or something. But, other books have said the baby was buried in a shoebox ,I think. It's said Jesse was buried in Priceville cemetary too, but with no marker ?

I think Elvis was about 3 when Vernon was sent to prison.
Gladys went to see Vernon, by bus, I think . It upset Elvis a lot.

Think Elvis & Gladys moved in with some family while Vernon was in jail.
When Vernon was released they all 3 slept in the same bed. The relative{?} told the story of them all three sleep walking at night . That WAS kinda strange , the way she told it.
Not the sleeping all together, but the getting up & moving around they all did.

It was stated in here that Elvis DID talk to his twin, Jesse. I'm not sure why some thinks that's strange. I carry my deceased relatives with me.
I find it comforting too.

I can see I've got to get my book back..
Some, I see didn't like the psychological slant to this book.
A pity because much of who we become as adults has a lot to do with our childhood.Both good & bad.

Elvis was an only child. He was skinny and sickly looking at times. I don't think she worshiped him, or he her, they just cherished each other. She may have been too easy on him, but that is just the way it is with many mothers with only one child.

I think I spoiled all of my kids and my grandkids.
I'm sure, more so if you've only got the one child.
Those kids are pretty special

I agree completely. Some always try to make it like a strange thing...i think it was sweet that he loved her so much. Its pretty rare nowadays for a celeb to come out and say how much they love their parents.
