    Bootleg label cds

Hey guys I have seen some bootleg cds on ebay and other sites and the actual cds don't look professional. Are they basically burned to a blank disc and sold?
    Thanks.

    CDs

My suggestion with eBay is to email the seller asking him if it's an original or a CDR or whatever.

If you're looking for a rare CD, a CDR is good to fill the gap until you find an original ... it's not as if CDs are like LPs etc. With CDRs, the quality is generally the same.

    Cheers.

You will tell when they are real cds or not. But it would be best to ask them. I would recommend the seller: macgyverandpetes2000

He sells Elvis imports from time to time. He doesn't have any right now but he get some in jsut about each month. Every cd he sells is the real cd and not no CD-R. I bought In Dreams of Yesterday (June 28, 1974) cd for 10.74 not including shipping. He starts all Elvis cds he gets at $9.99. So I was lucky on my cd that I got.

Well, for most of them you can tell a CD-R for sale to a real CD. You can tell more when they use cover art from this site or use cover art that is totally different from the real cd.

Basically, bootleg CD's contain material that has not been authorized for release by EPE or RCA, like audience concert recordings for example.

The term "Import CD" can have a couple of different meanings...it can mean a legitimate CD which has been imported from another country (for instance an RCA CD that has been imported from Australia into the U.S. is considered an "import CD"). The term "Import CD" can also be used as a way to describe or disguise a bootleg CD, as many bootleg CD's are manufactured in different countries. Sometimes people feel more comfortable describing a bootleg CD as an "import" so as not to get into trouble.

A CD-R is basically a copy of an original CD. This has become a way for fans to share their CD's with other fans, by burning CD's on their computers onto a CD-R (CD-Recordable). Generally, the sound quality on a CD-R is comparable to the original CD (unlike taping a CD onto an audio cassette, for example, where some sound quality may be lost). Most of the time, fans can buy CD-R copies of original CD's for a cheaper price (usually the main difference between the original and the copy is in the artwork...like if the original came with a 12-page booklet, the copy might not). CD-R's work for fans who want to fill gaps in their collection until an original comes along, or for fans who want to have the music without paying the price of an original copy.

Hope this helps you out edbdmiddy and Elvis_Priestly!!
