I think it is a camera on a tripod, unfortunately (hope I'm wrong). Video cameras back then were huge!
Kind wishes,

Is the ELVIS press conference (1969) was filmed? Please, look at this photo.
I noticed something, and it look?s like video camera (?). It is similar to these cameras:http://www.labguysworld.com/ATV_Research_XT-1A.htm
Maybe I`m wrong?
and it`s just a photo camera on support?
But why photographer/operator just sit after the camera and lay his hands on his knee?
Anyway I`m still hope to see that conference on video :-) If I can Dream?

It could very well be a camera. But then that particular journalist shot short parts of film probably and if he did, he sure held on to those, since I can not remember ever seeing moving footage of this press conference.
Interesting thought and topic though for sure. Who knows?

That is a regular photo camera and not a video camera. Video cameras back in 1969 to around 197? were big, very big. A video camera from 1969 would be about as big or bigger than you average person. That is not a 8mm camera because it doesn't even look like one. So I am betting that is just a regular photo camera that someone had there.
they have video camera's for the news people not average person that time.
