    Elvis "Today' Album- 1975

Here's another good album of elvis from the 1970s this time 1975
the Today album to this is 2nd best elvis album i like of all time,
every song on here is great even t-r-o-u-b-l-e, duke bass playing on this song and this take of the lp and the 45 single he did a fine job on that,

then "And i love you so' is a great love song for elvis in the 70s and fans
favorites for live concerts, next is a country song of"susan when she tried'
and "woman without love' and a blue song "shake a hand" shame elvis did this song live one time or maybe more times(wich i dont know how many times he did this live)-elvis love sining the blues and way i hear him do this songs he was injoying him self with it.

more country country song"Pieces of my love", Green,Green,Grass of home" and "Bringin it back" elvis was doing country music again,
not good has elvis country 10,000 years ago in 1970, but still to injoy to hear, then theres a song writen by one of the pointer sisters" Fairytale'
(story of his life he allways say in concerts maybe it's true if you listen to the words to the song).

and there billy swan's " I can help".

then later in this session he did "tiger man" it would be nice if they put this song out has a 45 single you well never know it might make him another number 1 hit for elvis in the 70's.

let's hope to see this lp make it to ftd cd with bouns tracks, and with tiger man in there!.

This was originaly on the fecc mb, so i move it to hear. with add note.

The album sunset 6363 has some of the great takes from Elvis "Today"
album The left out only one take we don't have yet, it was 'I Can Help"

Did Elvis only did only two takes of this song, can be take 1 can be a false start. of so they should have put this on there on 6363, take 1 and then the master, maybe without any overdubbs on it.

Yes, Curtis. An FTD of the Today album will be a very welcome release. From what I understand (never saw Roger Semon's recent statement myself), we may well see this before too long.

The way i understand this is that, there's not many out-takes left from this
album, like the song "Woman without love" he did it in one take.

and others might be f,s or incomplete take, in any case it would be nice to have an complete sessions from this albums.

That's my understanding also, which bodes well for the likelihood of us getting the original album plus undubbed masters, plus a few remaining unreleased outtakes. Tiger Man if there's room.

    MY FAVORITE ELVIS ALBUM!!!!

Simply an AWESOME album, in my opinion!! Every song on the TODAY album is a winner....and it's got everything, from rock n' roll to country!! Even a couple of cover versions....VERY COOL!!!

If I have to go to a deserted island and can only take 1 CD with me, this is THE one!!! (But, let's hope that never happens!)

    TCB!

Here are my thoughts on Today:

I grew up in the fortunate position that my father was an Elvisfan. Unfortunately he didn't care for the 70's Elvis, so the only Elvis albums from that era were 'That's The Way It Is' and 'Elvis in Concert' on LP and 'Moody Blue' on cassette.

When I was old enough, (ehm....14) to work for some small cash, I could finally buy some more LP's for myself. So the hunt for unknown Elvis albums was started. The first time I heard T-R-O-U-B-L-E was also on a radioprogram that I taped. Along with that revelation I also heard various other songs from the 70s that I've never heard before.

T-R-O-U-B-L-E..... A great uptempo song, but horribly oldfashion rock'n roll for the mid-70s. No winner for non-Elvisfans.

And I Love You So - One of my alltime favourite Elvis ballads. There's not a single live version of this track that doesn't move me. Love it.... But again, nothing special for the mass audience when it was released.

Susan When She Tried - This must be one of my alltime favourite up-tempo Elvissongs. This song simply can't bore me. With a big countrypop scene in the 70s, this might have be a small hit for Elvis.

Woman Without Love - a poor ballad.

Shake a Hand - nice for the first few times. But it can't pleasure me too much. Since it's a cover from 20 years before Elvis recorded it, I can imagine that it wouldn't have given Elvis more fans in '75.

Pieces Of My Life - I heard this song for the first time during musiclessons (I was 14/15). Imagine sitting in class and hearing an (for you) unknown Elvissong!? Fantastic experience. The song could have been so much more. It sounds so personal, but it misses 'something' (don't know what).

Fairytale - Since 'Elvis In Concert' was one of the only few LP's that my father had from Elvis in the 70s, I must have listened to the live version of this song several hundreds of times. The first time I heard the studio version was when it was used in a radioprogram (undubbed version). I really love this song. And just as 'And I Love You So' I love every single live version that I know.

I Can Help - great track, but I can't listen to it more than 1 time in a row. It's clear that Elvis didn't really like this track and only recorded it to please Swan (Elvis received studiotime that was originally booked for Swan).

Bringing It Back - again, a weird 'could have been great' track. It's not bad, but certainly not great either.

Green, Green Grass Of Home - originally recorded by -unknown-, then covered by Jerry Lee Lewis, then covered by Tom Jones and then also covered by our man. I just hate this song (sorry).

So all in all, I find this an album with a few poor songs, a few 'could have been great' songs and a couple of superb tracks. I can fully understand why this album did practically nothing in the charts when it was released.

Strange thing about 'Bringing it back', you either love it or hate it. When I speak to friends about this song I always get mixed reactions. Anways, it is one of my favorites. Underappreciated I believe!

Ditto that. Take 3 as heard on 6363 Sunset is just fantastic.
