Oh Tom, with respect, that isn't it at all, not at all. Elvis loved his fans and they him. There are always many circumstances to situations and respectfully, there isn't need to pass blame onto anyone.

    Take care,
    Jess

Ampzilla, you're new here, so let me give you a little advice. We already know that The Colonel ripped Elvis off ... this has been debated ad infinitum elsewhere. We know about the lawsuit. We know how it turned out. We know The Colonel pushed for more tours when Elvis was clearly not in shape to tour. We know The Colonel was complicit in getting drugs to Elvis, at least to the extent that he turned a blind eye more than once. So unless you have evidence to suggest The Colonel actually popped upstairs at Graceland on August 16, 1977 and stuck a needle into Elvis, then the debate is moot. Only Elvis was responsible for his own destiny.
    And quoting Lennon? Hmm...

Col parker was good for elvis in the beginning, however times changed and he did not, this left elvis in a rut and because elvis believed in loyalty and was a man of principle this ultimately led to him becoming bored and uninterested in his work.
Elvis should have sacked parker during the sixties and imagine the possibilities for his career then plus maybe it would have led to elvis sorting out his medication problem as he would have been happier amnd more forfilled.

I heard this once on a dvd that was about elvis (I have to remember which one and I'll get back to you). But they were doing interviews with celebrities that are fans of Elvis. I think one was Michael Douglas. Well he said that Elvis was confined and wasn't allowed to grow as an entertainer and a musician and he was just stuck.
