I have ALOT of favorites but to narrow it down mine would be....."Mary In The Morning".![]()
So of course me being new here and others have problem answered this questions many, many times.......
If (and I know this VERY difficult) you had to name TWO favorite songs by Elvis, what would it be and why?
My favorite is If I Can Dream - Everybody should have a dream for their future - just hearing Elvis sing this gives me chills.......
Don't Cry Daddy - My mother died when I was 10 years old leaving my father with 3 girls - 11, 10 and 7........ I still cannot listen to this song today without crying......... "don't cry daddy... daddy please don't cry...."
I have ALOT of favorites but to narrow it down mine would be....."Mary In The Morning".![]()
"Its An Elvis Thing Man, You Just Wouldn't Understand"

There are so many that's hard to choose one![]()
I must say that one of my favourites is An American Trilogy![]()
Thanks for sharing not just your songs, but the reason behind choosing them.
For pure emotional impact for me it would be "Memories" from '68 - it helped me cry one day when I needed to but couldn't, and still stirs my emotions.
Because its the song that got me into the world of Elvis, Suspicious Minds (from Aloha) holds a most special place in my heart as my "road to damascus" song.
But you're right - its so hard to choose, I have about 100 in joint 3rd place!![]()

That's a difficult question.
I have alot of favourites songs, but i think my favorite is An American Trilogy
I'd like to go to Graceland
Memphis,Tennessee
My favourite songs are If I Can Dream and The Wonder Of You.
I always loved If I Can Dream but I love it even more now. The reason for this is because last year I went to Graceland for the first time and at the candlelight vigil, this song was being played as everyone held up their candles in the air. Everytime I hear the words "Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle", I'm always brought back to the night of the candlelight vigil - it was just so special, I'll never forget it.
The Wonder of You....... okay - maybe we should pick 3![]()
......... The song is from my husband to me.... But the way I look at it is "The Wonder of You" is to him because of my love for him over the past 15 1/2 years.
I love music of all types and all songs that I love all bring back a memory and of course being raised with Elvis music from day one, so many of his songs have meanings behind them.
Moody Blue has special meaning because - well lets just say i'm moody.... next mood swing could be in seconds. My husband says this song was written for me.
So maybe one or two favorite songs are out......... so what are your top favorite songs by Elvis and why?![]()

There are three songs that made me a fan of Elvis about six years ago, and they are "Trilogy", "If I Can Dream" and "Never Been To Spain".
At the moment though I have two definite faves:
"Just Pretend", and "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
Mary in the morning
You never walk alone
You were always on my mind
Any day know
gentle on my mind
So many beautiful songs I can go on and on
This is a very hard question, because I love almost every Elvis song. To narrow it down, I would have to say ..![]()
Just Pretend - To make a long story short: I was not an Elvis fan when I heard this song. My father played it for me one day, and ever since then I've been an Elvis fan![]()
Always On My Mind - I have always loved this song, even when I wasn't an Elvis fan. And ofcourse, I still love it very much, and it's one of my favorites.
American Trilogy - It's such a beautiful and powerful song, and Elvis sings it with so much passion, that I get goosebumps every single time I hear it!![]()
"It is no secret what God can do,
and I believe there will be peace in the valley some day,
so take my hand, precious lord, lead me and guide me."

theres only one - good time charlies got the blues![]()
First of all my favorite song is the If I Can Dream and then probably Where Do I Go From Here. I met Ray Peterson (the guy that wrote the Wonder of You)and I have to share this story. It was around Christmas time in 1969 when Mr Peterson got a call from a guy by the name of Charlie Hodge. The name meant very little to Mr. Peterson at the time, but then Charlie said that Elvis wanted to talk to him. So, of course Mr. Peterson was elated. Elvis got on the phone and said "Mr. Petrson I wanted to ask you personally for permission to record the song you wrote called the Wonder of You. Elvis went on and on about how he thoroughly enjoyed the song and Mr. Petrson's work. Well, Mr. Peterson stopped Elvis and said "ask me permission? You're Elvis Presley. Elvis replied: "Yeah and You're Ray peterson can I please record the song". Of course Mr Peterson said yes. When I seen Ray Peterson perform the song he paid Elvis a great compliment. It was during the guitar solo that instead of doing the oh's he just said "man Elvis did everything right".
