your favorite item in your collection

going through my shelves /droors, of my collection i always ask myself what is my favorite item that i would not be able to live without[a hard decision] , and i always come to the same conclusion -my original reels of film, and photos- i would surly die if anything ever happened to these-the sentimental value is priceless. As i stated many times i love looking at photographs of E.P. , i've never counted how many photos i have in books and photo albums and negs that i have, this would take years to sort and date, i lost count back in 86 how many photo books/zines that i have of E.P. not to mention those that are prepaid and not yet recived, looking at moving pictures, film is again my favorite part of colllecting.

For purely sentimental reasons, my most prized EP possesions are the vinyl copies of Now, Promised Land, and Moody Blue that belonged to my Mother, and my Grandmother's copy of Aloha From Hawaii. My grandmother passed away several years ago, and I appreciated her sharing that with me.

It's cool to be able to be able to pass down love of EP's music to other family members.

A job to pick one item. I would miss my Elvis vinyl collection. I bought my collection when I was working full time. From 1971 I bought every UK album and Single release. It took me years to get a copy of the Blue Moon Maxi Single. I think that is my rarest single item I might miss. I haven't played my vinyl collection for years.

    Favourites

My favourite items I could never sell are my two copies of the Rockin' With Elvis New Year's Eve bootleg LP. (Hence my avatar). Both 1978 issues with slightly different covers (one has a white border around the American flag front cover border).

Others include: my scrapbooks form the 60s and 70s that I made; various 70s ticket stubs; the three Sean Shaver ELVIS BOOKS Volume 2-4 (will sell these one day ...); my complete - and I mean complete, every single issue - set of ELVIS MONTHLY magazine - again for sale one day); a letter I received from Graceland in 1978; a guitar pick James Burton gave me last October when I met him; a couple of original pictures from Elvis' army days I got from a friend of a friend living in England who served with Elvis; my bootleg LPs - 300 or so; and too many others to mention probably.

My favorite items (since I never saw him in concert) are too hard to list so I'll just have to say that I cherish all of the items I have in my collection...be it books or CDs or DVDs or VHS tapes....

I have a little plate hung on the wall, photo of Elvis close up with microphone in hand. The years below are 1935--1977. The plate was given to me by my partners son a few years ago for a Xmas prezzie. This is my favourite item.

Mine would be the original Sun 45s of That's Alright and Mystery Train, plus the original RCA 45s of Hound Dog and All Shook Up, which were given to me by my mom (she bought them when she was a teenager and passed them down to me)

When you become a priest your parents usually buy you a chalice, my mum and dad were paying so much already I told them not to. I went away for a few days beforehand and got back the day of my actual ordination to my home. My mum and dad told me they'd got me a present and I was "cross" because I'd told them not to. I walked into my bedroom and found standing in the middle of the floor my "ordination present" was this statue of Elvis! For that reason its got to be my favourite.
(The flag hanging behind it is my second favourite, my first ever piece of Elvis memorabilia from Christmas 1987)

Im not patient enough to write the stories behind each autograph, but I will tell my favorite story.I've posted this before some time ago on FECC so it may not intrest some of you.My wife saw Elvis perform 4 times.South Bend in 74 and 76 and Fort Wayne in 72 and 76.I was at the South Bend 74 show.I did not know her at the time.We met through an Elvis fan club many years later.Fate you might say.Anyway, she went to Graceland back in 76 to watch for Elvis. While there one day uncle Vester let her use the phone in the guard house which she thought was a thrill. She asked him if Elvis was inside the house. He said he was and that he was sleeping. This was in the mddle of the day.He asked her if she would like a tour of the grounds. She replied yes of course.Vester and my future wife climbed into a jeep and drove up the driveway. He pointed out Elvis' bedroom window and then they just drove around the house for a little bit.A thrilling day to say the least but no Elvis sighting. The next day she shows up and decides to get a little more brazen. She went down the driveway next to Graceland where the church use to be.It led to a back entrance to Graceland. After walking a little ways she "sneaked" onto the grounds of the house. She came up from the rear where the trailers were located. She was taking photo's back there when Lisa Marie came driving up on her golf cart and she got caught.Within moments Linda Thompson came up also. They didnt get angry at my wife at all. They were very friendly considering my wife was trespassing. Both posed for photo's and signed autograph's.Lisa drew a little smiley face next to her's.Then it got better because Elvis came driving up and Linda waved him over.He stopped the car and spoke briefly and signed an autograph. My wife was to shell shocked to photograph him.Something she has never stopped regretting.Elvis left out the back gate after a few minutes. Then a guy came walking up and said he would walk my wife out.Lisa and Linda said goodbye and then the guy who my wife didnt know escorted her out.She would meet them the next day also. The next time my wife would see Elvis was when she watched him leave Graceland for the final tour and she follwed him to the airport.Anyway that's how she got one of her 5 autograph's.It's on the back of a great photo she took of him in 74 at Notre Dame.

I don't have a favorite item, when I was younger I collected everything, magazines, all the albums EPS and singles. I had posters on the walls the whole bit. Now I guess my favorite thing is the music-the voice. I do not listen everyday but when I do it never fails to cheer me up, never fails to give me a smile.

My favorite item.....................very hard for me to say. I guess it is a tie between three cds and a statuette. The statuette is of Aloha From Hawaii which is my favorite jumpsuit of them all. The cds that is my favorites is Southbound (Macon, August 31, 1976), From Vegas To Macon (Macon, April 24, 1975) and Live in Macon (His last Macon show). I only live less than twenty miles from the Macon Coliseum that is why those are my favorite cds.
