The sale of part of EPE to the Sillerman mob was the beginning of the end as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, Graceland needs to be a commercial enterprise to survive, but linking it with things like Cirque du Soleil (is there anything on the planet more boring than this pretentious crap?) and American Idol ('nuff said) means Graceland will eventually end up sort of like Disneyland.
The expansion of the visitor's centre is unnecessary. They will be able to handle the 30th anniversary crowd influx with no problems. The Heartbreak Hotel across the street is a bit iffy, and I'm sure there will eventually be theme parks and other rubbish.
All of this may come at the expense of Elvis the Artist, as Elvis the Product slowly takes over.
It'll just be a matter of time, folks. Mark my words.![]()
