Here's something I learned about the "Chain" suit: The original chains on the belt were silver but, over time and due to use, they became tarnished and turned from a silver color to a gold color. That's why they look they way they do now in the jumpsuit display @ Graceland. You probably don't notice it but a lot of the suits @ Graceland are beginning to show wear-and-tear.

ok, so there is plenty of good shots of chain suit with red macamre belt, some good with the white, anyone have any better with the brown macamre, or the brown leather belt, or even the original belt; and especially how to tell the difference between the white belt and the original
but what is this belt?

this IS the red belt, the picture is just over exposed and black and white. his hair even looks white. its just the picture has too much contrast added.

What picture do you mean?

To my knowledge Elvis wore the Chain Suit only 10 times, from August to November 1970. Why should he have had two versions? I think the problem is that in many pictures it's impossible to see the lower part of the legs and that the quality of the photos in detail in part to be desired. You can not see the chains exactly.

That he had a second version, I can't imagine.

i think after a number of shows he may have just takin the chains off the legs and left the leather patch. Or taken them off and gave the chain to someone backstage.

it could also very simply be that the chains were interchangable being that they snaped on and off on both ends ( entry picture # 85 on this thread shows this clearly how they snaped on ), the same way chain vest extenders work on a biker motorcycle vest. He may have had the gold chains to start but then changed them to silver. They are silver in the TTWII movie concert.
