    re elvis drummers

we know that RONNIE TUTT[DRUM GOD OF ALL] was with E.P. from aug 31 69 onwards, missing some engaements and shows along the way. I thought that the only other sustitutes were LARRY LONDON and BOB LANNING, you could tell when larry was playing, but not BOB LANNING he really had the same rythm as ronnie, it was some 25 years ago that i had first seen bobs photo and found that he played for E.P. at the february engagement, i've always tried to find more info on him, but all i come across is his birthdate etc, it never mentions his work with E.P. i have alot of the photos from books etc[can anyone post photo of him on this thread, cause i don't know how]. I hve also wonderd about the bass player in ON TOUR OUTAKES[the guy with blonde hair playin bass, durring burning love] who is this dude, i mean not even TUNZI informs us about him, the only guy we hear reference to is BARDWELL, but what about this chap, he seems to play very well, i also have photos of him on stage with E.P. in LONGBEACH 72[ i believe his name is chris garver] this name pops up every time the lineup of musicians for the 72 spring tours additions, i could be wrong on the name, so if you know please help.by the summer engaement this guy was gone and sheff was back, but again not for long. I would just like some info if anyone has some.

The blonde guy playing bass in the On Tour outtakes was Dennis Linde, the writer of Burning Love. He died only recently. I don't think he ever played on stage with Elvis. The only bass players to play on stage with Elvis from '69 to '77 as far as I know were Jerry Scheff, Duke Bardwell and Emory Gordy.

As for drummers, there was: Ronnie Tutt, Bob Lanning, Larry Londin and Jerome Munroe. Munroe was the drummer for The Sweet Inspirations and played the 'warm-up' before the main event. As far as performing with the main band, he sat in for Ronnie Tutt, on December 7th 1975, who had threatened to leave the band over a pay issue. He also played drums during one concert in 1977 (info from elvis-in-concert.com site).

Bob Lanning also played the Houston Astrodome shows in 1970. Only the TCB band played these, the orchestra was not used.

Larry Londin played on the March 1976 tour, and played on Elvis' final three shows June 24th, 25th and 26th 1977. These were his only dates with Elvis as far as I know ...

From what I've read, it may have been a salary dispute or family problems as to why Ronnie left the band...was Ronnie planing on returning to the band for the August '77 tour that obviously never took place due to Elvis's death??

According to what I've read, Jerome Munroe actually sat in for three shows...here is the info I found from the website about the TCB Band about Jerome "Stump" Monroe and Bob Lanning:

    About Jerome "Stump" Monroe--
Jerome Munroe got lucky three times. His first Elvis show was on November 8st 1971 (Philadelphia). He also sat in for Ronnie Tutt who threatened dropping out over a salary issue while performing in Vegas, 1975. This was December 7th 1975. Munroe (nicknamed Jerome Stump) was the regular drummer for the Sweet Inspirations as a warm-up act, so he was very familiar with Elvis? set. In June of 1977, he took over Ron?s part again, for one show, this was on June 24th.
And here's the info on Bob Lanning--
Bob Lanning played drums on 63 shows early 1970
I have no information as to the whereabouts of Bob Lanning nowadays....anyone??

Didn't Emory Gordy play bass on those ON TOUR outtakes? He played bass on the actual sessions the days before, so he could have sat in on the "mock" sessions for the MGM cameras as well. According to "A Life in Music", Dennis Linde played guitar on the recording sessions, but he is not listed on the "mock/rehearsal" sessions. I think Jerry Scheff had a prior commitment at the time.

I did read that Linde was at a rehearsal, but for the life of me, I can't remember where. And I'm almost 100% sure it's Linde in the On Tour outtakes. Can someone please confirm / refute?

Some pics of Emory Gordy and Duke Bardwell.

i remember linde as having black hair, but the guy in the photo on the rihjt is definetly him[the guy on tour outakes], man he wrote some of the best tunes for E.P. and he wasn't half bad as a singer either.

I e-mailed Peter Verbuggen from Elvis Matters about the whereabouts of drummer Bob Lanning and this is the quick and courteous reply I received:

Hi Tony ? we have no idea. I asked Ron Tutt the same question, and he said that ?nobody? knows what happened to Bob. Disappeared in thin air, it seems...
It seems that Bob is the 'mystery guy' in regards to Elvis's TCB Band....

In regards to Larrie Londin, after Elvis passed, he was the top drummer in Nashville for many years. He also played for rock bands like Journey and many others. He passed away in 1992. As far as studio drummers go, it really didn't get much better than Larrie. Ron Tutt was also a great studio drummer.

    Viva the TCB Band!!!

Do you remember the dates that Jerry Allison worked with Elvis? In all the places I've looked, there is no record of him ever having worked with Elvis....not saying I don't believe you, I'm just wondering....
