I recall reading somewhere that that little episode involved a girl of 8 or 9 that Elvis tossed one of his scarves to. The kid, in complete innocence, tossed it back (you can hear everybody in the audience cracking up). This little gag went on with the two tossing it back and forth, with E trying to get her to understand that she should keep it (?Don?t throw it back.?).
Interestingly, this same thing happened , I think in Vegas, with one or two adult women ? who knew very well what they we?re doing, but were just trying to get E?s attention. E wound up being annoyed at one of these women: she was in the front row, and would wait till he passed by, and then ? with dead-on aim ? throw it back to him, hitting him.
E later was mad at Red West for not stopping this woman?s behavior. But Red didn?t think there was anything he could do about it. (I?m pretty sure that one?s in What Happened?)
