Hey does anybody know what songs Elvis wrote or cowrote. I know he didn't write much but maybe a couple?![]()

Thanks I'd like the complete list, but he wasn't a writer just the best performer & singer of all time.
Elvis never "wrote" a song, per se. He couldn't read music (which is not a criticism, neither could Sinatra). As an instinctual singer, he knew which chords worked and where. With things like You'll Be Gone, he contributed to the chord structure and overall sound. And maybe some of the words.
Which makes me believe that this current eBay auction of the "final song that Elvis wrote in 1973" is complete bollocks.

I never heard that EP was a song writer. All that needs to be mentioned, however, is that he was, whatever the credits may or may not have cited, the de-facto arranger of most of his key tunes;e.g., you can see him at work in the rehearsals of TTWII.
As an honorable mention, Elvis suggested that That's Someone You'll Never Forget be written. Having said that line in natural conversation, it occurred to him that it would make a good song title.
I think You'll Be Gone is pretty cool, and would be interested to know exactly to what extent he contributed to that one.
But as has been said, he was not a songwriter. However, putting his own stamp on certain songs with his arrangements and adaptations speaks volumes about his creative instincts and feel for music.
...you won't forget me when I go.
Didn't Elvis help Red West write "Seperate Ways" or was that just Red? ??
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977
As far as I know, the only song that Elvis actually had a hand in writing (although I do not know exactly how much) was YOU'LL BE GONE.
Back in the 50's, he was given co-writer credit on a number of his biggest hits such as ALL SHOOK UP, HEARTBREAK HOTEL, LOVE ME TENDER and others. But, if I remember correctly, Elvis didn't actually help write the songs, but it was a matter of record royalties or copyright control of the songs or something like that....I believe that was a deal that the Colonel had put together?!?!![]()

You'll Be Gone
(Words & music by R. West - E. Presley - C. Hodge)
Sweetheart we're alone
And you are mine
Let's make this night a night to remember
Don't make our love a cold dying ember
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
Hold me close in your arms as the night withers away
Let's not waste one precious kiss while we're together
Oh please come to my arms and say you'll love me forever
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
Sweetheart when you're near
My heart is aflame
Your lips pressed on mine is heaven descending
And I could die because it is ending
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
Let these passions we feel in our hearts never end
I could never share this feeling with another
Oh please say that you feel the same knowing no other ??
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
For with the dawn, you'll be gone
I think that Elvis was involved on the writing process of at least one more song, but I can't remember it or they now, or perhaps I'm wrong.
I think the song he also had a hand in was,
"That Someone You Never Forget"
it was suppose to be inspired by his mother. He was given co-writing credits on several early songs, but other than changing a word here or there as he sang them he had little to do with them it seems. Red West is a fairly good songwriter who has had songs recorded by Ricky Nelson, Pat Boone and Johnny Rivers (besides Elvis.)
