"And i'm never gonna cease my wondering..."
Look up "underrated" in the dictionary and the words to "They Remind Me Too Much Of You" should be printed.
Incredible song and performance - especially take one. One of his best ballads.
"I can't see my reflection in the water. I can't speak the sounds that show no pain. I can't hear the echo of my footsteps. I can't remember the sound of my own name" - Tomorrow Is A Long Time
love that nashville cat. I also always loved "I Met Her Today". The vocals with The Jordanaires don't get much better than that. Also, "Never Ending", great strong vocal and beautiful acoustic guitar.
I think some very underrated songs would be 1975's T-r-o-u-b-l-e and 1976's For the heart both of these songs should have soared up the charts!!!!![]()
What a GREAT question ph10579!!!Of course, I could literally be here all night creating my list, but here are just a couple for now...
* LOVE COMING DOWN (great underrated ballad from the Jungle Room Sessions)
* FOOLS FALL IN LOVE (just a great, funky song...I've always loved this one!)
* IT'S EASY FOR YOU (should have been a single....the way he phrases the words of this song is simply incredible!!! He sounds like he has lived EVERY WORD of this song, and it truly comes through in his performance!)
Those are just a couple I could think of right off the top of my head!! But give me time and I am sure I will be re-visiting this thread soon AND often!!!![]()

the first one that comes to my mind is 'just pretend', this is just one of the best ballads Elvis EVER done. he puts his heart and soul into it, and his voice is terrific
also hurt should've been better than it was, the cymbal clash and piano at the start and Elvis's voice bellowing 'iiiiiiiiiiiiiim! sooooooooooooooo huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurt!!! is a number one in its self, and the climaxes and the feeling poured from the song is just a classic!
sincerely, Scott, a 15 year old Elvis fan

I think that I'm Movin On and Gentle On My Mind are ones that never get the praise they deserve.
The Sun Never Sets On A Legend...
Patch it Up
You'll Think of Me
Just Pretend (as mentioned in a previous post)
Let Yourself Go
Guitar Man
The Girl of My Best Friend
"Make The World Go Away"
"Mary In The Morning"
"Stranger In The Crowd"
"Seperate Ways"
I think one of Elvis' most underated songs would be-"Baby Got Back"just kidding!!! But for real I would have to say two of them would be " The first time ever I saw your face" and "We can make the morning".

I wholeheartedly agree with the choice of "Just Pretend" - what a perfect song for Elvis. It's a ballad with kind of a soulful, gospel feel that is so unique to Elvis, especially in the early 70's. The live 1970 versions were even better.
Another song in this same vein I would add is "Where Did They Go, Lord". Amazing.
"I can't see my reflection in the water. I can't speak the sounds that show no pain. I can't hear the echo of my footsteps. I can't remember the sound of my own name" - Tomorrow Is A Long Time
Yes!WHERE DID THEY GO is superb!!!In my opinion there is many songs that Elvis should have got a Grammy Award for!!!I tell you:we will never hear voice like that again!

I think "The Girl I Never Loved" is one of the most underrated Elvis songs, it is often considered as a usual movie song, but I think it's far better - one of his best movie ballads.![]()
I also think "(It's A) Long Lonely Highway" is underrated, the same goes for "That's When Your Heartaches Begin", "Where Did They Go, Lord?" (as mentioned above), "She Thinks I Still Care" and "There's A Honky Tonk Angel (Who'll Take Back In)". Elvis' version of the latter is in my opinion far better than Conway Twitty's, although I really like Conway Twitty. It's a great song and a stunning performance by Elvis.
