I think this photo is from 1956? I have seen this photo many times and never really noticed that it looks like Elvis has a MUSTACHE!!
What was he thinking, is it the Errol Flynn kind of look? So glad that he decided it was a non runner

I agree he looked great in Charro with a mustache and a beard but he was older then and it suited him. I don't care for just the fuzzy little mustache on him when he was younger. I don't think he would have looked as good with a beard along with the mustache in his younger years as he did when he was older and had a more mature face.

It looks more like peach fuzz to me. I had always heard it was hard for Elvis to grow facial hair. He did look great with the beard in "Charro".....made the character that much tougher looking. You think the Colonel might have opposed to Elvis having tried growing one in the 50s to fit his image more?
This isn't an attempt at a moustache at all.
It's just some peach fuzz, presumably photographed at the end of the day. Like most of us when young, the moustache part of the full beard tends to grow first and a bit faster.

Ummm. that looks like dirt. LOL Or what some may call a 1/2 stache. Ver greasy.
As far as I can see it, it indeed looks like bad lightning....It looks like the flashlight or other strong light is coming from underneath ( I think ,as the chin is lightest part) and the moustache actually is the shadow of his lipcurl.
And yes he looked amazing in charro...

well being a Elvis Tribute Artist and wearing Make-up I know a little about Stage and TV Make-up because I have to wear it for shows. To me looks like who ever did it did bad job on Bronzer and it gave that effect of hair. I know when I was heavier to kinda give the look on my face that I didn't have a little bit of fat under my chin I would put bronzer in the spot light it would not show and I would look skinner than what I was in the face.
So with out a dought if these where photos and to make his eyes not look like they are in back of his head he had make-up.
Are we sure it is just not a catepillar doing tricks on Elvis' upper lip? LOL!
