Thread: Elvis Himselvis

    Cool Elvis Himselvis

Elvis Presley was one of the, if not the greatest recording artist of all time.

While much has been said about him since he died, there are things which grab the publics attention more than others.

In the run up to his 30th Anniversary I will look at some of these. Briefly before I go into depth on each of these topics, I will describe them.

    * Elvis's weight - a talking point which generates great interest in the media, usually due to the fact they can back up their claims with photgraphic evidence - and the King's love for Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches - not to forget the trip in the Lisa Marie, simply to get food. I will go into this topic in detail later on TCB-World.com as I will all topics. I shall tackle this from the point that Elvis did carry excess weight, however it was due to a number of reasons, especially in the latter years, primarially due to his abuse of prescription medication.

    * Elvis's drugs - the media love the King's use of prescription and illegal narcotics. I will go into Elvis's use of both illegal and prescription medication.

    * Elvis's death - Faked, cover-up or simply due to an ill man dying. I know which one I agree with, and will talk about Elvis's death, funeral, burial and re-burial.

    * Desert Storm - What exactly happened that night in Augsut 74' and why....

    * EPE, the current state of the company and the what the future may hold...

Basically I will examine certain areas of Elvis's life that are what can be called controversial. The media of course will be looking at the above areas with intense interest in the run up to Elvis's death. It is important to discuss these things and to highlight Elvis. Fans are really not that interesting ( no offence guys ), Joe Public wants to know about Elvis not about Elvis Impersonators or over zealous fans during the anniversay. If they get stuck, they may print, broadcast etc....things of this nature.....which is a pity as it makes Elvis turn into a type of cult, consisting of many disparate elements some of which and some people who claim to be Elvis fans are quite disturbing in the way they act, behave and conduct their business.

For the record I do not agree with EPE's impersonator contest.

Well I hope ye do enjoy them once I begin posting.

Well I agree on most. I for myself being Elvis Tribute Artist/ Impersonator what ever you want to call us. I think it great idea EPE finally did step in. I could have done Country music if I wanted but since I loved Elvis and I wanted to do something to show my love to him. I've been doing it now for 4 years now and met a lot of his family members and friend that I think if I wasn't in business I would not have gotten to know on personal level. So I think it was great because they might wing out the JOKES and ones that make MOCKERY out of it. For me I take a lot of time and money into my show in past 4 years I think I've put almost $40,000.00 just in stage lights, and sound and etc. Am I braggin Idon't know but it was worth every penny that I spent. When a Elvis Fan comes up to me and says Thank You For bring back so many memories. The greatest memory I have doing this is a 7 year old boy coming in with baggy pants and his hat on sideways. His mother came up to me and said this is my son and I brought him here to show him different kinds of music other than Rap. 3 1/2 hours later the little boy comes up to me and says "You know I listen to rap, but I think that Elvis music is really awesome I'm going have my mommy pick me up a CD."
THAT THE REASON why I do this.

But it comes being in part of the business, you have people that like us or hate us. But until you really get to know that Elvis Impersonator don't judge them because you have no idea why they are doing this and meaning behind it. You can usually tell which ones love Elvis and which ones just to do to make Joke out of it.

    Love to all,

You are entitled to do what you want with your life. It doesent mean I have to agree or even like it.

I find Impersnators as being part of the problem that makes Elvis and Elvis's fans a joke among many people.

That is my opinion, and I am sorry that EPE didn't go and regulate/ban the whole lot of them a few years back. The only reason they kept them was because they can make money off of them. Nice move by EPE to generate income.....at the expense of alienating some of the fans.

I do cringe when I see people walking around Graceland dressed up like Elvis, or going onto a stage looking like him. They must lead very shallow and meaningless lives that they have to pretend to be someone they are not.

That is why I don't like Elvis impersonators. It's my opinion and I will stick to it. If I could have my way I'd ban the whole lot of them.

Well everybody has their own opinion and can express that. For me, I do not like them. Yes, I've seem some and it just didn't do it for me. People like this only hurts Elvis' image... I know not all look like that but still, thats what most people think of when talking about ETA's..a fat man in a one piece suite...

    Note to 0349054.

Whilst I appreciate all that you have to offer regarding the above topics, I would remind you of how certain topics have become inflamed over recent weeks! I would kindly ask that everybody keeps their opinions to the subject at hand and treat others how we would like to be treated.

    Cool

There is a widespread assumtpion here, especially among the moderators that certain people are especially vulnerable to offence and should be protected by an abnormally thick wall of respect, in a different class than other users of the site are protected.

If these people persist in acting like a fissure fungus by disrupting threads and making outlandish statements I will continue to insult them as long as they act disrespectful towards me and other users of the site.

I shall also continue, if they send disparaging private messages to members who I know.

i dont think the problems lays withy tribute artists only a a few disrespectful ones.

im a song writer and singer,
    http://media.putfile.com/Reason-For-Living-46

    http://media.putfile.com/Better-Day-21

my songs, and my singing, also i do elvis for charity, and i DONT think i am elvis, i am me, and i am special, EVERYONE is special in their own way, i would not want to be elvis, i love the man, but he was UNIQUE.
Every penny i make from singing elvis goes to cancer research. as i dont want to make a penny of of elvis' back or achievments,
i do elvis in the most respectful way i can, i stay in shape, and i have been on vocal training from a young age. i am 20 and i portray a 20 yeaold elvis when i do elvis. sometimesa i may do ttwii, but thats elvis in his prime. slim and healthy.

    Elvis' drug use.
I think many enveyous people write bad things about elvis, because of what he achived. when the beetles take drugs its COOL, when elvis does itsa shoking and wrong. its double standards.
No person has the right to judge elvis. everyone has their flaws, but i think with elvis, the good out weighs the bad.

    Cool

This goes to prove to my point.

Seeing as no one here has disproved my assertion that Elvis Impersonators are little more than hideous embarrassments to Elvis Presley's legacy, it is intolerable presumption for anyone here to doubt it or for any restraint to be placed upon my views as I have thus expressed them.

If for some reason one of these Impersonators was to take a grave insult to my comments, it would trouble me not. The challenge is for these white clothed vermin in the Elvis world to prove what, if any worth they actually have, rather than hiding behind hollow claims of discrimination.

Discrimation does not cover things relating to individual merit like skill, ability or personal achievement, and therefore it is these lacking characteristics in the majority of Impersonators which I have disdain for.

The overwhelming factor being that in my opinion they should be given psychiatric assistance, for their behaviour is far from what society accepts as 'normal'.

If that's an impersonator of Elvis then I will not go to any shows. That's a disgrace to Elvis himself. I don't like impersonators anyway.

No that picture been around for years. It was taken in vegas at Elvis Meet just a fan trying think what he thought was right.

As for me I take a lot a pride and don't feel sorry for me. Last time I checked I was still Tim Dudley, on and off stage. Plus loving Wife that supports me who hated Elvis Impersonators but now loves the good ones. Same goes for my mother-in-law. Only difference I do have Dyed black hair, sideburns and a REPLICA jumpsuit. To pay tribute to the singer I loved that helped me for the good and bad times of my life.

Plus all the Elvis fans I've become friends with like Big Boss Man, Rickster, Jumpsuit Junkie, Dovey, Tilly, and ones not on the group and Sandi Pichon and Patty Perry to name few. Means to world to me with love and support. They never judged someone just because they are a Impersonator. Some should follow in their footsteps. These are good people..

I agree, there are many Tribute Artists who do good job. I've seen some videos of some (like Todd Luxton and Martin Fontaine) who do it well, and others who are an insult. If you like what you do, go for it!
