    Elvis sense of humor

Ok guys... after so many heated discussions and closed threads for that matter lately I thought to start this thread and see how many of us like to speak about Elvis positive side of his personality...
Have you heard of read any Elvis related story or quote that made you laugh ?
    There goes my two cents.

Elvis had a dog ( I think his name was Edmond ) that didn?t seem to realise his real owner was Elvis. Edmond liked aunt Delta best and always wanted to be by her side. Elvis used to call him from his bedroom when he woke up and the dog ran up the stairs, jump to Elvis bed and go back running to aunt Delta?s side. Time passed and Delta became the owner of Edmond because the dog felt he had the right to choose... So one day Elvis called Delta and told her:
    - Aunt Delta... you know... I used to have a dog...

One day Elvis called down for the Graceland electrician and told him to come up his room and see what happened with his tv set that wasn?t working properly. The electrician told him that sometimes that happened to him too at his home and that was an antenae problem that would fix up by itself. Elvis called again for him a few minuts later and told him to go up his bedroom and have a look at the tv set. The elctrician went up and when he got to Elvis room Elvis told him.
-So you have the same problem at home? Does your tv set have this big hole bullet in the screen?

    Elvis' sense of humor

I agree it is time to lighten the mood a bit around here......this is my favorite:

It's during one of the "sit down sessions" for the 68 Special, and Elvis starts to sing. His upper lip goes into that famous curl.....he stops singing, and says, "Now wait a minute there's something wrong with my lip.....", and gives a knowing wink to Charlie, the guys, and the audience, and further says, ".....I got news for you baby, I did 29 pictures like that....."

    My second favorite:

During the same "sit-down session", D.J. Fontana mentions Elvis' performance in Florida in the 50s. Elvis explains "The PTA, the YMCA, they though I was, it was something....(chuckles), and the police came out and they filmed the show. The whole performance I had to stand still except for my little finger....(starts to wiggle his pinky)...You ain't nothing but a hound dog cryin all the time.....you know the whole show.....(laughs)."

I laugh every time I see this part of the show......

    First Favorite:
Is a tie. Both are from the FTD Closing Night. The first is during the song Love Me Tender. With the line of "Adios, you mother. By By Papa too.....".
Next is when he mixed the music of Suspicious Minds with the words of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

    Second Favorite:
Is during TTWII. On the special edition just before Heartbreak Hotel. When he told about "When Ed Sullivan saw me, he said, Hmm, Son of a *****."

    Third Favorite:
Are You Lonesome Tonight from 1969.

    Cool

The time Elvis faked an assanation attempt on him to see what JD's reaction would be.....JD jumped on Elvis to protect him!

I think JD earned a lot of browny points for that!

It is impossible to listen to that song all the way through and keep a straight face. Elvis had such a great sense of humor all throughout his life.

My favorite is one that I just found on itunes recently Elvis is talking about his career from his side. Closer to the end he starts talking about his later movies and how he was in a rut in hollywood. He says, "I got into a rut in Hollywood, making picture after picture. I was in a rut just off of Sunset Blvd... this big rut. And I was down there and I said 'Get me outta this rut!' And they said, 'You stay down there! You have long hair anyway you fool!'" (Something like that... I couldn't get the transcripts)

I love Elvis' sense of humor and it seems like when he laughed his laughter was contatgeous. You just have to laugh right along with him.

I also love "Are You Lonesome Tonight" (The laughing version) He seemed like a very fun person to be around!

His sense of humor should be legendary!! I love the spot in his Las Vegas show where he begins to tell about making his first movie in 1956 - the Sweet Inspriations begin to laugh because he's been trying to tellthis story for some while as he's also fixing a mike problem. He stares them down & says "tomorrow night I'm bringing in the Supremes. ."
Also, when he was on Steve Allen or Milton Berle or whoever back in the early days - he mentions he would be singing from his biggest record - "well,it's not any bigger than the rest of them"
For him a day without a song - for me a day without Elvis' humor - not good!

Elvis showed a great sense of humor, especially during his live performances. In 1956 he introduced "Hound Dog" with a line like "...as one great philosopher once said...." and went on with "....you ain't nothing but a hound dog". At the Ed Sullivan Shows he sang "...now you gotta me leavin'.." instead of "...now you gotta me startin'..." during "Too Much" and he showed his sense for fun during hundreds of live shows during the 1970's. Elvis was a hell of an entertainer - that's for sure!

I always liked the story form Rousabout where Elvis wanted the Jordanaires to come in on the chorus of a song. The director told him,
"Elvis you don't understand. In this scene your on a motorcycle on the road, where would the voices be coming from?"
Elvis just looked him in the eye and said,
"The same **************** place the band is..."

I read something funny in the book "Elvis and the Memphis Mafia". Some guy from a band asked him what his favorite band is and he answered, "Los Angeles Police Department".

I love the one when Elvis was on stage, started to stare at Sylvia making her nervous, he gestures no I won't bother you, she's still not convinced, then he sidles slowly up to her and says "boo" or something similar, catches her off guard and she falls apart.

At a friend's funeral(from the 50s, can't remember his name) having listened to all the standard cliches of people commenting about how the corpse looked so peaceful and looked asleep a deadpan Elvis came out with the immortal comment " Don't know what y'all talking about, the son of a b.... looks dead to me!"

Yesterday I watched "Ttwii The complete works" and in one show he drank gatorade and said: "This is gatorade in case anybody´s interested. Looks like it´s already been used".
