After Elvis died Vernon was suspicious that someone who was around Elvis was
leaking info about what was going on there and why Elvis died.

He asked Billy to let it slip to Charlie and Grob that Elvis had cancer and see
if it came back in the media and/or gossip.

Elvis wasnt aware of the facet he had bone cancer. During his autopsy a small pinhead amount of Bone Cancer which would of formed in the weeks prior to his death.

The bone cancer story was released to find the leak.

As for Elvis describing symptoms.....my personal view is that Elvis was able to talk to women, even if he lied in order to get what he wanted from them. Quite a few of the guys think that's where Kathy got that stuff from. At the end of the day, yes he had sexual relations with her, but he had that with many women, the only difference was that Kathy travelled with him......how close was Elvis to his touring band or to women he slept outside work/sex, thats up to eveyone to decide for themselves.

I think it was possible that Elvis had bone cancer, also that he didn't die of it nor do I believe he died solely of drug abuse. I do believe he had numerous serious health problems and that the combination of these and the drugs, heavy performance schedules etc. all combined to make him die young. I do believe he did suffer from some depression at times but I don't believe he had "clinical depression".

I think Kathy is relating everything in her interview as honestly as she believed it to be true. Same goes for all that Charlie has every said.

I have received a nice email from Kathy a few years ago.

All the Elvis health stories are like a jig-saw...many of the parts are missing. Yes I have read just about all the theories...with plenty of salt handy.

Many of my close friends did not know I had a triple by-pass heart operation:-) "Why didn't you tell us" they said. "I had other things on my mind at the time!", I replied.

0349054, I had to come back to this thread because of one sentence that kept going through my mind. What you had to say about Elvis possibly lying to women to get what he wanted from them. Boy that was way out there as can you honestly imagine that Elvis had to talk any women into anything? Even at the end women were fighting to get to him. We're not talking ordinary guy here even though he was just a human being he did appear bigger than life and his looks, talent and personality were extraordinary.

Maurice I agree, the question of his health problems is a jigsaw puzzle. We can only believe what we feel is reasonable.

I agree Diane, however having Elvis confide personal information in you can create a level of trust. Besides, if Elvis put his eye on a woman and she wasnt too keen I certainly believe he would be able to sweet talk her.

Don't forget Kathy lost her virginity to Elvis! It wasnt just becasue he was E-L-V-I-S it was because he formed a relationship with her on an emotional level also.

Elvis began having a relationship with Kathy fairly soon after she began working for him on August 16, 1970.....

0349054, I kind of believe Elvis confided a lot of things to a lot of women just because he was more comfortable with them. I can picture him scheming very early in his career but I'm sure he'd outgrown that adolescence stuff by the '70's.

That's true Diane. I don't know, but I just feel that Elvis lied about having cancer to Kathy for what reasons I don't know but my best guess is what I have said above.

Elvis wasn't diagnosed with cancer, so unless he was verbalising fears that he had it I can't think of any other explanation.

You're right, we'll never know for sure about so many things in his life. Too many contradictions, false memories, downright lies etc. Like I said in a previous post, we can only believe in what we personally feel sounds reasonable to us.

Kathy's book is many times better than most of the others wriiten by people who knew him. I would rank it among my top 5 most treasured Elvis books. She comes across as being honest and genuine. Whether or not Elvis had bone cancer is a separate issue to whether she genuinely believes that he did. I believe she is nothing but 100% sincere in her belief that he did suffer from it.
