This Is Elvis is one amazing piece of documentary. Many of the scripted/fake interviews (with people on the street etc) are nowadays used as real pieces of history.
I'm afraid it's going to be a missed opportunity when they decide to release it unedited. The original version is from 1980, a time when we (the world) knew much less about Elvis than we do now, a time where we (the world) had much, much less of rare footage.
They could easily re-edit the documentary. Hell, there probably are tons of experienced people (Elvis fans) that love to work with MGM on this project (for free). They really should use the community more.

I would LOVE to have THIS IS ELVIS on DVD, and was disappointed to see it mysteriously vanish from the list of releases coming out in August!!
Hopefully they won't release it around the time of the supposed mini-series from CBS next year....competition might be bad for THIS IS ELVIS, depending on how good the mini-series is!

Hai there everyone, i am new here and got to this "This is Elvis " conversations,I am indonesian elvis fan, and in my country i found it hard to get Elvis CD, video nor any of his memorabilia.
I suppose japan DVD company whatever they labelled it might release the DVD of THIS IS Elvis, i dont know for sure, But....i got my ALOHA FROM HAWAII Video Compact Disc concert with japan versions, in 1997 . But i must admit the quality of picture surely not as good as the version of the hawaii elvis concert on the DVD .. well to me as long as there is elvis in it, i wouldnt mind to get it
