    2007 Grammy Hall Of Fame

"Are You Lonesome Tonight" By Elvis Named to Grammy Hall of Fame
    1/10/2007
Are You Lonesome Tonight as recorded by Elvis in 1960 is a 2007 Grammy Hall
of Fame inductee. It is the sixth Elvis recording to receive this honor.
The five others are: his original 1956 recordings of Hound Dog (inducted
1988) and Heartbreak Hotel (inducted 1995), his original 1954 recording of
That's All Right (inducted 1998), his original 1969 recording of Suspicious
Minds (inducted 1999), and his original 1956 recording of Don't Be Cruel
(inducted 2002). The Hall of Fame recognizes "early recordings of lasting,
qualitative or historical significance," with many inductees being
recordings that were created and released before the 1958 inception of NARAS
    and the Grammy Awards.

    RIGHT ON MATT!!!
Any bets on which song is inducted next??

I know that the Grammy Hall of Fame is generally for songs that were released prior to the 1958 creation of the Grammy Awards, so in that category, perhaps LOVE ME TENDER?

But since they inducted SUSPICIOUS MINDS from '69 into the Hall Of Fame, I am going to suggest that BURNING LOVE should receive induction into the Hall next!!

    Hall of Fame

It's interesting that all of the Elvis songs inducted into the Hall of Fame - with the exception of Don't Be Cruel and Heartbreak Hotel - were cover versions. Other people had recorded them before Elvis.

I would have thought some of Elvis' more original work would've been inducted first. In any case, Elvis' versions of all these tracks are the definitive versions.

    Just a thought ...
