I would go with the Walk a Mile in My Shoes: The Essential 70's Masters. But it all depends on what you like best
!
Lately I've been really desperate for more Elvis songs, without having to download them, as i have been doing, using up Megabytes from our internet connection way too quickly in the process.
I've only been a totally immersed Elvis fan for the past year; I dont know a whole lot on what cd's or box sets to buy. So who else to ask but you guys, as fellow Elvis fans, to help with purchasing, preferably a value-for-money box set, without overlapping too much of the music I already have..please![]()
I don't have too many cd's, because I unwisely download many songs from the internet (ive only come to notice my stupidity now lol), and the ones I do have only scratch the surface, basically:
Elvis 30#1 Hits, Elvis 2nd to None and The Story Continues.
And also one of many of the Hayride Recordings Cd's that have been released over the years.
I have been looking around, trying to figure out what my best bet would be- Ive considered these box sets especially:
The King Of Rock 'N' Roll: The Complete 50's Masters box set
From Nashville To Memphis: The Essential 60's Masters
Walk a Mile in My Shoes: The Essential 70's Masters
Ive also had to take into account availability- chances are I wont be buying them off the net, so ive been searching for those titles everywhere in stores, here in Australia. If anyone knows, also, where suggested titles are available in Australia, it would be very much appreciated.
My sincerest Thank you's to everyone in advance for your help![]()

I would buy all three
The King Of Rock 'N' Roll: The Complete 50's Masters box set
From Nashville To Memphis: The Essential 60's Masters
Walk a Mile in My Shoes: The Essential 70's Masters
All are wonderful box sets!! Have you tried www.Elvis.com?

I agree Tommy it is very good. Many great tracks on that set![]()
Only problem i had with the From Nashville To Memphis: The Essential 60's Masters was that when i opened up the book that come along with it, everyone of the pages started falling out![]()

OH sorry Brad, I didn't have that happen. But I brought mine when they first came out in the record shops here in the USA.

Manelens,
You should get all three sets. Also, try the 1980 Silver Boxed set released on CD.
If you're in Sydney, visit Red Eye Records in the city for their extensive Elvis collection, or log onto www.redeye.com.au
Also, Sanity records is a pretty good chain. If they don't have something, they can order it in. Same with the HMV stores.
IF YOU'RE IN MELBOURNE, VISIT HOUND DOG'S BOP SHOP - THE GREATEST RECORD STORE IN THE WORLD, RUN BY A HUGE ELVIS FAN. HE HAS A BACK ROOM FILLED WITH EP STUFF, AVAILABLE TO ONLY THOSE IN THE KNOW. VIRTUALLY EVERY NEW RELEASE AND BOOTLEG CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THEM.
Or try www.ebay.com or www.ebay.com.au
Here in Australia, log onto the website www.elvis.com.au
I do some freelance work for them, and it is an excellent site. Additionally, it offers CDs and DVDs much cheaper than you can buy them elsewhere, especially for the FTD CDs ... I've seen them in specialist shops for around $60-65, but the site sells them for around $40 or so.
In my opinion, you can't go wrong with any of those titles Tommy posted. All 3 boxsets are filled full with great music !![]()

I'm in Sydney too.Yes, im in Sydney - Thanks for the tips, srj1967, on where to go-I was finding it very hard to locate stores that had any Elvis cd box sets here, so that really helped too.
You might be surprised that the bigger JB HiFi stores often carry Elvis box sets too.
I would buy the three 50s/60s/70s box sets then follow up with the key FTDS. Plus Movie 60 Masters double box-set.
Have you checked "Australian Ebay" as several of these box sets have been for sale there recently and pretty cheap.
Don't miss out.
AND get yourself into those $10 CD shops (Bondi Junction had a pile) and you will also find a wonderful deal on Elvis' first CDs remastered by Kevan Budd for $10 each.
Plus GI Blues, FEIM, even On Stage, Burning Love & Moody Blue extended versions etc etc.
GREAT deals if you don't own these.
Please note that, at the moment, Elvis Info Net www.ElvisinfoNet.com also sells FTDs at a competative rate to Elvis Australia.
http://www.elvisinfonet.com/ftdpage.html
But I am biased as I also help run Elvis Info Net.![]()

Nigel & I are both really struggling with ridiculous full-time jobs this year, when we both wish we had 40 hours a week free to work on the site.
We have so much we would like to add, but little time to do it.
Hopefully next year will be easier - and then there is MEMPHIS 2007.
I can't wait.
All the best for the Festive season to everyone on this board
Cheers

Hi all !
I have just bought the Essential 60's Masters. BUT i have noticed that the complite title is " The essential 60's Master I "
My question is : does that "I" mean that there is a "II" (second) 60's box ????
Thank you !!!! Giulia
Before anyone did anything,
Elvis did everything
not as far as I'm aware..........just 1 box set for each decade (50's, 60's and 70's)
"NO-ONE, BUT NO-ONE,IS HIS EQUAL, OR EVER WILL BE. HE WAS, AND IS SUPREME".Mick Jagger

Platinum
Elvis Close Up
Today Tomorrow and Forver
A Golden Celebration
G.I. Blues: The Cafe Europa Sessions is not bad either as lon as you don't mind hearing a mroe working studio feel, stops and starts etc.
I never looked for trouble but I never ran.
Oh and the 2 cd set Sunrise and Suspicious Minds - The Memphis 1969 Anthology are also great sets to have.
And look on ebay i just bought new copies of The Essential 60's and the Essential 70's masters for about $30 aussie dollars for each set, (including postage) They've been re released.
