The Rev Frank Smith (standing, wearing sunglasses and hat) takes a bow in Tupelo 9 August 2003. Rev Smith is mentioned in "Last Train To Memphis" by Peter Guralnic on pages 19-20 in relation to helping an eleven year old Elvis learn to play his guitar.

Yours truly was kindly given the honour of giving the signal to turn on the water to the new "Fountain of Life" seen in the photo, which celebrates Elvis's extraordinary life.

Maureen my wife and I can be seen sat with Larry K Otis, Mayor of Tupelo at the time. We were there from Ireland, at his warm invitation.

Jim Palmer and Roy Turner of Tupelo are seeking publicity for their "Elvis Comes Home" Documentary which they are working on at the moment, and yours truly is helping them out by getting newspapers and radio to cover the story. So far we are doing quite well, but if anyone here would like to contact their local media about the story please let me know.

True, it's just news that's over 2 years old!

From experience, I have found that on Elvis message boards topics and news are constantly being recycled often returning to old subjects to help keep new members informed.

True, keeping Elvis number one in peoples hearts and minds is what it's all about, the rest are mere auxillaries. Elvis is what's important in the Elvis world!

I'm sure everyone will agree that reading about Elvis' achievements is something they are very interesed in. I really admire the work done by people like Ernst Jorgensen, taking a back seat and allowing all the plaudits to fall on the main attraction - Elvis. Securing the Louisianna Hayride tapes is quite an extraordianry piece of work.

Thanks franny, a great many Elvis fans will be interested in the Tupelo "Homecoming" documentary.

An Ernst Jorgensen's essay in the book "In Search of Elvis" tell us quite a lot about Ernst before he gets to Elvis's music which he did not really notice till he heard "Little Sister" in 1962 when he was twelve.

I was busy buying every recording I could get of Elvis in 1957 when I was fifteen:P.

Well his essay in that book was about growing up as a Danish Elvis fan in the 1960's! And theres no getting away from the fact that he's a big player in the Elvis world and people are interested in his life and how he got such a wonderful job with BMG.



Besides he is the man to thank for sorting out Elvis' catalogue, and I certainly don't mind buying a book and reading about Ernst if im told that's what i can expect before I purchase it.

One of the better books on Elvis such as A Life In Music, although not complete is by Ernst and he doesn?t try and inflate his own importance in the Elvis world in the slightest. Hes quite secure about himself in that respect.

Yes Ernst has done some fine work.

I guess it's a case of different strokes for different folks.

I'm confident and happy enough having been very lucky in making an impact on Tupelo. Very modest too:P :doh:

Though to me modest was something else! Besides even though Elvis posed for pictures when he gave donations and did charitable work.....he was Elvis and he didn't ALWAY'S seek praise!

Nevertheless, 3 Mayors, a sculptor, and the vast majority of people in Tupelo were delighted with all the publicity the city received, that's why they actually invited us to the city, so a few sour people here are of little consequence:P

Please, Elvis fans like Elvis. Swallowing your own self-publicity is a bit hard to bear. Proof of the pudding is you know jack about Elvis or his life, and thats the reason you never participate in threads outside anything concerning yourself.

BTW......the people you irk aren't sour, they are frustrated at participating in an Elvis forum and facing posts about you. Why not just continue writing about yourself on your many blog spots across the net, and leave Elvis forums to subjects related to Elvis.

Which Memphis Mafia members have applauded your hard work? Because in all honesty... you didn't finanace anything, they are not your statues! You had an idea, which may have been an original or not, but it did become reality. However, may I just ask what charitable work in honour of Elvis Presley you have done since you decided to bring up the generosity piece?

As far as I can see all you do is pat yourself on the back and tell the world how great you are, but it's all in honour of Elvis. I could probabaly believe that if you left yourself out of some of it.

Maurice, you know darn well that he is right because I see your posts on other sites and it always the same thing..... you like to promote yourself.... and you always end up fighting with Elvis Fans..... then you end up leaving (for a short time).... and then it is the same thing again.
