Elvis' Favorite Songs
I was wondering if you guys could tell me some of Elivs' favorite songs, especially in the 70's. I have read how he liked Dean Martin, Fats Domino, Frank Sinatra ect. Also read from about 20 different people how he either liked, respected, or hated the Beatles. He did do some of their songs, so he must have respected them.(Paul and George at least ;) ) So who else did he like. Sorry if this has been asked before but I searched but I couldn't find anything.

I do know that two of Elvis favorite songs was "Green, Green Grass of Home" by Tom Jones. That song is from the 70s. When Elvis heard it on the radio the first time he cried. He called George Kelin, the disc jockey, and made him play it over and over. Another one of E's favorites was "Mohair Sam". I forget when the song came out, but I heard that he liked it quite a bit.

He loved the old and new gospel songs, quartets and vocal groups. I also heard he liked the Bee Gees. He liked Tom Jones and they were friends. He was an avid music lover and in the Peter Guralnick book " Careless Love" he talks alot about certain songs and artists he would listen to over and over and make other people listen to. I just can't remember anymore, but that book does a good job of covering everything Elvis was into in the 70's.
