Viva Elvis!!!
well becoz Elvis made so many recordings in his life, i can not pick one ALL TIME fave, but my fave studio recording at the moment is tommorow is a long time, which i sing alot on guitar and to myself at the moment. Elvis just puts so much feeling and tenderness into it, its just beautiful. my fave live recording would have to be POLK SALAD ANNIE, becoz of the different variations over the years. i like to sing the 1970 version, just so cool, but also the 1972 version is a hunk a rocknroll, and the spring tours version just goes off!
Yes, Polk Salad Annie it's a great song; I like it too. Also, I'd like to send you a big congratulation for being such a young and REALLY ELVIS FAN. :peace:Quote:

Cant just say that there is one song, that varies from time to time. Of course P olk S alad Annie is favo of mine. But at this time I think Stranger in my own home town is the no. 1. But that can be different tomorrow.
My favourite constantly changes. At the moment my fav is "Just Pretend".
Love Song Of The Year!!!!hIS tHE bEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Live - I can't stop loving you
Nobody ever mentions this, but this is a great song. Elvis really enjoys singing it, you can hear it, it has a nice climax and I love the great endings, specially in his March 74 tour. He did this song very often! Just listen to the version on As Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis
Studio - All the material from 1969/1970
Ok, pick one from each year
1969 - Any day now
1970 - Mary in the morning
Overall winner: Any day now, because it's a perfect song to underline the New Elvis by the end of the sixties He wanted to record some good quality songs, and not the moviesong-s**t.....listen to the alternate takes, the passion!!!
Wow, it's pretty hard to choose a favorite Elvis songs because he's got so many good ones.
Of the slower songs I really like Can't Help Falling In Love, Just Pretend and If I Can Dream. I also like songs like Bridge Over...., How Great Thou Art, You Gave Me A Mountain and American Trilogy.
Of the faster songs some of my favorites are Suspious Minds, Polk Salad Annie and gold old Jailhouse Rock.
But there aren't many Elvis songs I don't like. Maybe that's a good idea for a topic, I bet the list will be much shorter for most people. :D
I would have to say that one of my all-time favorite songs is You'll Never Walk Alone! I never tire of listening to this one. Elvis sings it with such emotion that it just gives me the chills every time that I hear it.
IT'S HARD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN 3 SONGS SO I'LL SAY ALL THREE OF THEM
1.SYLVIA
2.THE SOUND OF YOUR CRY
3.LONG BLACK LIMOUSINE
:notworthy
Just Pretend....of course......but not any 'Just Pretend'.....the one shown on the TTWII SE.......
it's hard to pick just one song. for now i will choose my way but that seems to change from day to day.:)
These are the ones I keep coming back to again & again.
Help Me Make It Through The Night, which is just phenomenal as a song (Kris is a genius) AND as a performance by Elvis. The way his voice cracks on the line "for tonight I need a friend" is pure, unadulterated soul singing.
And I Love You So as performed on the Elvis In Concert album. I saw Don Mclean last year & I have to admit that I welled up when he started this one (and again with Vincent, American Pie & several others).
Unchained Melody, the Moody Blue version. Now, I know this is overdubbed & all, but this adds rather than detracts from this incredible, basically pure gospel performance.
There are loads of others, but these are permanently at the top for me.
If I was facing a firing squad & had to pick one to save my life, it would be Help Me Make It Through The Night.
My favorite PERFORMANCE tune is Bridge Over Troubled Water - TTWII
My favorite CD/ALBUM tune would have to be Stranger in my Home Town, Long Black Limousine, Kentucky Rain - Memphis Sessions
My favorite MOVIE tune would have to be Jailhouse Rock, Bossa Nova.
But there are so many more............;);););););)
My favourite is ''Loving Arms''
I picked one from each decade.
Don't Be Cruel
Suspicicious Minds
I Just Can't Help Believin
If I had to pick one only then Don't Be Cruel has my vote.
