On Stage

Short introduction: In 1999 RCA/BMG re-released the On Stage album as an updated version, with the addition of several songs, both from Elvis' 1969 & 1970 Las Vegas engagements. They also added some in between songs dialogue and remixed the original tapes.

These versions of "See See Rider", "Release Me" and "I Can't Stop Loving You" rank among my favorites. There's so much power in it.. "time has stood stiii-hii-hii-hii-hill since we've been apart" - this version is apocalyptic, as Elvis, taking the metaphorical stance of a modern-day Samson, takes down the temple of the Filistines in a final obliterative gush of primal force with which he ends the song.

the original release...see see rider was much better,than w/ the new mix.

One of my favorite Elvis cds.

great cd!!! although the sound is okay. but overall i listen to this cd often!

EnigmaticSun, Your absolutely right. I play the original "On Stage" all the time. over and over again, for that exact reason.

I bought this one aout a year or so ago and even though the crowd was overdubbed I thiught it was a great performance. The I Can't Stop Loving You track his voice sounds so strong there and I agree with EnigmaticSun said about I Can't Stop Loving You. Too bad they didn't put it on the Legacy Edition of ON STAGE. Overall I think it's a great album one of my favorites.
