I changed a little bit much the tracklist in order to give more panache to the album. I don?t if it was a good idea to make a "doble-trouble-alike" cover but I just couldn?t chose between those two pics... so I took both!

Among the three covers you posted this afternoon, Jeanno, I like this the least, I must say.
First of all, it's really lucklustre.
Just imagine what a pot luck is all about. It's fun, hilarity, disorder, community, surprise, etc. pp., but nothing of that appears on your cover.
Quite the contrary. Your design has something serious about it.
Moreover, that top is much too heavy. The pix and the huge word Elvis are out of proportion, the pix being too small.
True, you added panache to the tracklist, but not to the design. I miss the spark of inventiveness and courage the other two covers have.
Manhattoe
What an interesting point of view!:hmm:
Well, I had always translated POT LUCK to the french (I?m french, by the way) "POT POURRI" which is, in music context, something like a mixbag of songs and genres. The original LP was pretty that way : pop, soft r&b, touches of country and rock. I never took it like "hilarity, disorder, community, surprise, etc." Nothing of that neither appeared in the original 1962 cover.Quote:

Nevertheless, I may try to do a more dinamic cover, more in the spirit you were saying. Always great to do different things!;)
Pot luck means as much as eat what is available.
It's also used for meetings where everybody contributes something to eat and to drink, without regard to a recipe. Usually, such meetings are hilarious, etc. pp., at least thsoe in which I participated (back in the last century, when I was still a student).
The French pot-pourri is no too far away from that, since it also implies a mixture of different things, so you association is a legitmate as mine.
Maybe you can compare a pot luck to your pot-au-feu. I well remember a meal with French friends which centered around a pot-au-feu, and at the end we were really hilarious, and the enxt day I felt a lot of disorder in my brain. ;)

Always great to listen to comments from you.:D
It is true that the color of both elvis is the most complicated thing. I?m going to try to fix it tonight following your "3 pieces cut" idea. About the third pic with the lower quality, I think I?m going to use a different one I?ve just find and certainly much more convincing. Please, have a look tomorrow and tell me if the whole thing?s improving(y) ... or not.(n)
Jeanno, this comment may not be great to listen to, but I write it anyway. :D
Also, I disagree with Ron. The layout is consistent (though out of balance, imho), that's true, and the pictures need more care, that's true, too, but the whole concept and color combination would rather fit to the How Great Thou Art album (with other pix, of course).
Sorry, as much as I like your On Stage cover, I can't feel sympathies for this one.
Anyway, keep on going this way.
UNCHAINED
Here is the updated version. What do you think about this one?
MANHATTOE
No problem, my friend; you don?t have to like all the designs!:D Thanks anyway for your comments : you always learn something thanks to the critics. By the way, making a HOW GREAT THOU ART cover with this cover is, indeed, a nice idea!(y)
Hi Jeanno!
Shame on me, but I do think that Manhattoe is right on with his comments.
I neither can't see any reason for using two 'small' pictures from Elvis on the front side.
Also I find the letters for "Elvis" much to big in comparison to the pictures.
At least: I really enjoyed your STAX project, which was absolutely stunning - and in comparison to that this cover the spark of inventiveness is missing.
Hope you don't mind and kind regards, J?rn
i just bought an original of this album for $60 at a second hand record store, and i wish i'd gotten that cover instead of the crappy old one!
I like it jeanno(y)
Keep up the good work
Hey, I thought UNCHAINED was the only one who liked this one!:P
