Great News. Let's hope he wins it. Trouble is McCartney always seems to win everything he is nominated for as he always appears to collect the Award in person and that adds kudos to the show.

It for sure would be cool if Elvis would win this Award.
However, as you mention Brian, McCartney seems the logical choice to win this one. And to be honest, the album he is nominated for is a very good one indeed.
Re: 'Young Man With The Big Beat' Nominated For Grammy Award
I sure hope Elvis wins. Like you guys said, McCartney being able to receive the award in person makes a big difference for t.v. Always politics.
Re: 'Young Man With The Big Beat' Nominated For Grammy Award
Would be great if it does win. As that will make sure further collections like this (instead of more greatest hits stuff like '75) will be pursued in the future.
Re: 'Young Man With The Big Beat' Nominated For Grammy Award
If it does win it will actually be for rock'n'roll material instead of the usual gospel and that will be a first for Elvis. Could also be that when the SUN BOX SET is released, it too could stand a chance of being nominated for a GRAMMY. It has always seemed a trifle unfair for Elvis, the KING of Rock 'n' Roll, never to have received a Grammy for that genre. Let's hope things are about to change.

my sentiments too Brian.......very bizarre
Re: 'Young Man With The Big Beat' Nominated For Grammy Award
Just heard that this Award will NOT be part of the televised broadcast. This is good news as McCartney will not turn up without a TV appearance.

That is good news and bad. Good because Elvis has a better chance of winning. Bad because if he was to win there will not be as much press about Elvis winning another "Grammpy".
Re: 'Young Man With The Big Beat' Nominated For Grammy Award
Don't be too sure about that Chris.
Look at it from both sides. It also would mean lesser publicity for McCartney in this case.
When Elvis would win, the fact he is no longer among us could just mean our man gets more attention winning this particular Grammy.
While at this, we all think it will either be McCartney or Elvis winning. So probably they both will not ;)

Sonny those are valid points. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I do have the Band on The Run reissue and its great, I'm a big McCartney fan and that one sure deserve it. BUT, me been an Elvis fan aside, Young Man With The Big Beat for sure its a much more complex work than Band on The Run, it is much more carefully crafted, the research, the artwork, the restoration, the remasters, the memorabilia, the liner notes, music aside, it is definetively a superior job than Band on The Run. Now musically, although Band on The Run its a classic one, there is no way you can compare it with the historic relevance of Elvis '56 masters so...
Being Elvis fans aside, I do believe Young Man has a better chance than Band on The Run, although yes, politics are a bigger matter and we know everybody loves and gets something by kissing Macca's ***. I know for sure that Paul would be happy if Elvis wins this time.
