'An Afternoon In The Garden' Returns To The Billboard Charts
The album 'An Afternoon In The Garden' has suddenly turned up on the Billboard Top 200 and Catalog Charts. Last week it entered the Top 200 Album Charts at 166 and 20 on the Catalog Charts. This week it has risen to 137 on the Top 200 Album Charts and 16 on the Catalog Album Charts.
I suspect this could be due to the 'Elvis In Concert' productions happening during the next week or so at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC and at the Mohegan Sun Arena in CT.
I am reliably informed that the album is on sale for $5, along with others, at such stores as Walmart.
This is my favourite 'live' Elvis Album.

You are correct there are several $5 Elvis albums at Walmart, including Viva Las Vegas, GI Blues, An Evening Prayer and many more.

I didnt know they that had that many. I'll have to go to Wal Mart and check that out. Usually after we get the groceries my wife runs me out of there before I spend any more money on movies or music lol. However, I think I will be stopping by and picking up those little jewels this weekend.

I hope this is good news as showing some sings of live might lead to a great MSG deluxe edition for the 2012 anniversary.

good to know, I like to pick them up when they are really cheap, keep them in my car where they get a lot of use/abuse.
I do like the Afternoon, I just got TTWII - wow! the sound is great!
Re: 'An Afternoon In The Garden' Returns To The Billboard Charts
During the past couple of months the 'An Afternoon In The Garden' album has re-entered and left the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. Well it is back again this week re-entering at No.123 with a star denoting greatest airplay and sales gain. It has also re-entered the Catalog Album Charts at No.12 with a star.
It is interesting, apart from being a great album, as to why this particular one should be getting so much chart success now, even performing better than the recent Elvis Legacy releases.

This album truly is one of the best live albums possible. The Aloha showed Elvis at an iconic moment, the Garden showed Elvis at top of his game. Outstanding album(s)
Re: 'An Afternoon In The Garden' Returns To The Billboard Charts
As great as the NY shows were, can you imagine how much greater that album would be if he had performed songs like Jailhouse Rock, Johnny B Goode and Bridge Over Troubled Water? Oh my! Anyhow this latest news of chart re-entry can only mean good things to come for live Elvis. They thought there wasn't enough interest in his live stuff. Maybe my box set or one like it will now see the light of day after all. (y)

This cd is in my car stereo as we speak. I love it!
Re: 'An Afternoon In The Garden' Returns To The Billboard Charts
Ive often wondered why the Afternoon show was not the album released in 1972.

It's pretty amazing that an album that was released 14 years ago just now reached it's highest position. When it came out in 1997 it didn't chart. Now it's at #85. What an accomplishment!
KPM, I agree. The afternoon show was much better than the evening performance, and a better setlist too.

Bridge and Johnny where performed in some of the NY '72 shows, unfortunately not in the two ones that where recorded : (
This is definetively a great sign and could mean some neat release of this NY event is coming next year!
Re: 'An Afternoon In The Garden' Returns To The Billboard Charts
This live album is amazing  One of my favourites :D
Re: 'An Afternoon In The Garden' Returns To The Billboard Charts
Both shows could use an upgraded mix. I have a friend who is on the music business and he has told me that the future of music will be in HD surround sound form, so maybe Sony Music will release the Garden shows next year in HDA playback mode for the 40th anniversary.
