Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
Hmmmm....Tom Jones again. I don`t think any friendship that he might have had with Elvis was a pretty weak one really..you don`t talk about your friends like that, especially when they have passed on and can`t even defend themselves.I think that the only thing that means anything to Tom jones is his own over-inflated ego. He could never have matched Elvis,Elvis was a natural...his voice, his charisma, his looks, all came easily to him.....all you get with Jones is that ancient cave-man rubbish...oooh I`m a sex-bomb look at my big hairy chest...and that is just getting more and more ridiculous as time goes on.... go paint on the walls of your cave Jones...nobody wants to listen to your he-man bullshine anymore.(n)(n)(n):flex:

to be fair to him it was o grady who brought it up.
he didn`t have to mention the trousers incident though.
Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
Frankly, I am sick to death of her being his spokes-person. I mean, what the heck?? She is the women who cheated on him, divorced him, took his kids from him, berated him in interviews,,,saying how great her life was since she left him and was now with Mike Stone.
The women has absolutley no right at all to the fame and attention she receives because she chooses to hang on to his shirt tails. No wonder Girabaldi and she split up.
She acts like they never divorced and she is still the grieving widow. She knows less about the man than many others do. It's disgusting IMO.
Does anyone honestly think Elvis would have wanted her representing him???????????
She makes me sick. All she is and has ever been is a fame and money seeker and has used Elvis from day one.

I understand where you're coming from and perhaps she shouldn't be using the name 'Presley' but she has done alot for Elvis since his death. I know not everyone likes her but credit where credits due.
Something alot of fans forget is that Elvis cheated on Priscilla years before she ever cheated on him and she never stopped Elvis from seeing Lisa after the divorce (which you cant blame her for, you cant expect anyone to stay in a relationship if they're not happy). Overall i think shes done more good for Elvis than bad.
Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
It's not just about her using his name which she has done for years, she has profitted off of his name forever. Of course she has done well by Elvis at time--she has always made a fine living by doing so. But she treated him like crap when he was alive,,,so what does that tell you. That it is all for selfish purposes,,she doesn't give a dang about the fans...she does however give a dang about their money.
Oh and in the marriage--no--she cheated first. That's right,,,,he tried to keep his vows and she didn't at all. Then yes--he did too. People need to get their facts straight.
She has done more good,,,you mean the classless, tasteless trinkets she and Lisa have allowed to be sold.
Anyone that doesn't think that her motives are anything but selfish, just don't know the women.
Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
I dont want to get into an argument but Elvis had a romance with Ann Margret in 64/65, that was only a couple of years after Priscilla came to live at Graceland. And there were bound to have been many more even before they were married. Then in 68 there was the lady from the 68 special and 'live a little', can't remember her name; Susian Henning?
The 'tasteless trinkets' are one thing but what about what she did to get Graceland openned in the 80s? Im not saying she hasn't done anything for her own gain though.
She's also the 'public face of EPE' often appearing on TV etc, and ive never heard her speak of anything other than Elvis. She's never on these shows promoting herself, using Elvis as a way on the show.
Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
I agree with you here. No one is perfect, and I don't think that Elvis would be all upset over all she's done. Though I will say maybe somethings more than others, but I don't think he really would.
Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
....so was Priscilla on the One Show as planned?
Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
Let's be mature about all this. Elvis was not blameless. Why do you think he stopped the wives going to Vegas ? My problem with Priscilla right from the outset was that, in the divorce settlement she got $100,000 a month for herself, and only $500 a month for Lisa. I used to have a list of the things she claimed on in this settlement. I do remember one of the things was trips to the beauty salon, and getting her nails done. I also remember that she was running around still using Elvis' credit card until Vernon put a stop to it. When she left Elvis she hurt him in the most possible way, and that was for another man. She knew this would hurt his pride. She could have easily set herself up in an apartment or gone back to her parents. Elvis was not good enough, but she knew the name would open doors for her.
As for taking Lisa away from him, I have to disagree with this. In those days, and even today the woman is always granted custody of the children. She has to be a pretty bad piece of work not to have this happen. Anyway, when you consider what went on after she left Elvis, drugs and different men, no wonder poor Lisa is os mixed up.
We always here how much Elvis loved touring and performing. Rubbish! He told Parker once that he could not go on and Parker told him he had to. In reality he had no choice. He had to support her for one thing. No wonder he was nearly broke when he died. For all his faults it shows you the measure of the man that he continued to entertain people right up till the end, even though it had lost it's gloss for him.

Very true.
I agree with most of what you say.
I believe Elvis did enjoy touring/performing, in the early 70s. But I believe by perhaps 74, he didn't enjoy touring so much but personally I think he would have still enjoyed performing.
My main problem with Priscilla is that she did (and continues) to use the name Presley. Even today, when the general public roughly know Elvis' and Priscilla's 'story', if she went back to her surname (can never spell it) no one would know who she was.

[COLOR="royalblue"]I don't want to sound like an expert on all things Elvis. I am a veteran Elvis fan and have followed his career fom the beginning, so you could say I was there when these thing happened. I knew a group of girls in the States who used to follow Elvis around. They would write to me and tell me things. I used to think that they were just jealous of Priscilla. But after all these years, and reading some of these things I realise that they were right. I wish now that I had kept these letters.
I think it was around '74 that Elvis was getting restless with his career. We must realize that he had been let down by so many people. First Nixon, who he admired, turned out to be a crook, then his marriage broke up, then the boys who he had supported bought out the book "Elvis What Happened". He must have been going through so much stress. He was a very proud man and I'm sure these thing helped destroy him. To me I think the big turning point for him was when his mother died.
Although I hate to say this, to be fair to Priscilla, there are a lot of women who still carry their husbands names after a marriage break up. [COLOR]
Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
Elvis sells Elvis and everything he is now it's thanks to HIS talent and to the work HE did while he was alive. Priscilla, Sillerman and Lisa will disappear some day, but Elvis will forever have his place in the history of music with or without their "help". They don't even have the rights to most of his songs, so all the "good" Priscilla have done since he died have been for her own gain. I mean, if you like Elvis plates, key rings, dog costumes or want to visit Graceland and spend money to celebrate the birthday of a man who died more than 30 years ago you should be thankful to Priscilla and EPE, if you are a fan of Elvis as an artist and a person you don't need to thank them for anything, because don't get fooled, Elvis Presley the artist and EPE are two different things.

Re: Priscilla Presley On 'The One Show' (10th September)
It never ceases to amaze me how irrational some Elvis fans can get about Priscilla - particularly female fans. They criticise her for cheating on Elvis, but seem to conveniently ignore the fact that he cheated on her multiple times before she even thought about being unfaithful. How is that fair? It might be nicer to think of Elvis as the victim in that relationship, but that doesn't make it true. Does anyone really believe that Priscilla would have cheated or grown out of the relationship if Elvis had been attentive and faithful? I sure don't. The way I see it, Elvis should not have married Priscilla or anyone else during that period. He loved women too much and they loved him too much. There was no way he was going to be faithful to her or anyone else. After all, he hadn't been faithful in any serious relationship before Priscilla and he wasn't after either. June Juanico, Anita Wood and Linda Thompson were all serious girlfriends who Elvis cheated on repeatedly. That's the way it was. I'm not judging Elvis, because an ordinary guy does not face the huge temptations that he had, but why do some women seem to think that Priscilla should have put up with it?
