Yes, at the very least they met backstage after Roy attended one of the December 76 concerts. Roy was later quoted and said Elvis was "doing well"
Orbison attended the dec. 4. 1976 dinner show. What a great show it was! Because of Orbison Elvis gave his best during this show.
This is my first post here, and I figured I'd "chime in" ...
Elvis actually met Roy Orbison in 1955 in Odessa, TX. Orbison had a local television show, and made sure to book Elvis after seeing him on Dallas' Big D Jamboree. He had this to say after the first time he saw him perform: "His energy was incredible, his instinct was just amazing.... Actually, it affected me exactly the same way as when I first saw that David Lynch film (Blue Velvet). I just didn't know what to make of it. There was just no reference point in the culture to compare it."
And from what I hear they met many times after that as well.
Just imagine if tape of Elvis on Roy's show ever turned up!
