Thanks!

On a related note:
There are photos of EP in his backyard @ The Audobon Drive house (before Graceland, yet right after super-stardom) ............. with EP sitting shirtless - rifle in hand - resting - between shooting rounds.
The gun fascination stayed with EP his entire life; later on in the 70's, especially after The Manson-Tate Murders ................ EP insisted that his entourage carry concealed weapons & EP himself also did (concealed shoulder / inner waist / & ankle holsters were all varieties he used). EP was not unreasonable in his decisions, and history has proven him right - given what happened to John Lennon. EP also later put Sam Thompson in charge of Lisa Marie (versus Hodge), simply because he wanted somebody who could carry a weapon / trained to use it - to protect Lisa.
--------------------------------
The bicycle MYTH (as is the case with all "myth") serves a purpose ------------> to present an alternate, more palatable side of EP, .................. a "romanticized" version if you will.
Let's face it, a young Gladys was not going to let an even younger EP get a rifle .......... instead she presented him with an alternative choice ---> a bicycle or a guitar. The rest, as they say, .......... is "History."

You mean this pic, Cap? ;) :P
Yep, .... that's the one.
My thanks.

Sidenote:
Did you know that EP put his name last on the title of The Audobon House; it was literally for his parents (remember, this is also before Graceland) - in the truest sense of the word.
Maybe that's why Gladys finally gave in and let EP have his rifle ............. :D
