The Life Of Elvis Presley, Sean Shaver:

Even for the smallest collection of Elvis books, this one from 1979 is a must have.
We all have our views on the best Elvis books... BUT the very best is still being written on the WWW.
Combining the collected knowledge of many thousands of well informed Elvis fans is the way to go. Even the most diligent researchers cannot possibly compete with devoted Elvis fan spending what amounts to many years of his/her life combing the bookshelves and Internet. A Degree of learning.
Decades of thought can hardly be squeezed into a paragraph........ unless you are a Nietzche! :D

Mine was "Elvis and Me". Please don't hate me, it's still my favorite.:)
For me it was "The Boy Who Dared to Rock." Regrettably over the years I have lost it. But it was a good book as I recall.
IM
my first elvis book was Elvis Presley - Unseen Archives when my dad was on a trip to america with my grandfather he bought this for me so it will always have a special meaning to it :D the most expensive one i bought must be The Elvis Encyclopedia hardcover, With the dates on pics that are wrong (Sadley) lol it states a picture from the mad tiger suite that it was taken during 1972 lol that suite wasnt worn till 1974,the omaha 1977 picture stating that its June 26 indianopolis. yet i like this book for its high quality pictures!
This was my first Elvis book. I got it when I was 13.Attachment 54147
Elvis, The Legend Lives On. It is copiously filled with photos, many I had never seen before, spanning from childhood to 1977.
it was probably an elvis special book ( by the elvis fan club britain )
got a few of them but i have a soft spot for ELVIS..BY DAVE MARSH.
God !! My first Elvis book? If you mean novel then it would be "Operation Elvis." If you mean magazine it wiuld be "Elvis-Hero Or Heel". I was given it by a guy at school in the late 50s. Like a fool I cut it up so I could put the pics on my bedroom wall.

Elvis by Jerry Hopkins
Last train to Memphis by Peter Guralnick
"Elvis And Me" was the first one what I read.
" Elvis In Private" by Peter Haining, I like this little old book.
However, the best seems to me "Last train to Memphis" by Peter Guralnick (y)
you can't beat Peter Guralnick's 2 set books
This was my first book as well, long time ago now. great book though,
A Magazine that was published soon after Elvis' death, I still have it even tho it's getting a bit *ahem* crispy. Why didn't People put out a magazine like they do now - like the one about Whitney Houston! I was young enough that I would have considered it a must-have classic!
First book I bought - that would be the Jerry Hopkins book, then I bought a fabulous pictoral book put out by Life. then there was a stream of books too numerous to recount here!
THE BOY WHO DARED TO ROCK by PAUL LICHTER , it was such a great book at the time(1978. It had loads of pages that included great concert photos along with pics of album covers and a very good read of the life of ELVIS , it still is one of my faves.
